A dark green
pine forest, with birdsong floating on a deep silence, is home to this family-run
hotel, nesting peacefully within the Natural Park of the Montes de Málaga. Winding
down leisurely from the main road (this last part on an unmade track), through
tall, dark trees, one rounds the last bend to come upon this country hotel, shining
white amidst the greenery.
One
arrives to a patio, planted with almond trees. Inside the hotel is warm and homely.
Soft colours and wood have been combined to please the eye. Guests can relax in
the comfortable lounge, by the fireplace, reading a book from the well-stocked
library, or enjoy a glass of good Málaga wine in the bar.
The restaurant offers traditional dishes from the area, served in a friendly
atmosphere. A craft exhibition is permanently on show here. Upstairs are the bedrooms,
each of them drawing in the calm atmosphere from the surrounding countryside.
Outside is a broad verandah, a place to take the sun, and a swimming pool. There
is a nature walk starting and ending here and it is excellent bird watching country. Various
field activities are organised and bicycles are available at no charge to guests.
Owing to its location in the heart of the Montes de Málaga designated natural park, and the owners' own commitment,
this is an eco-friendly hotel. But for those who want to keep in touch with the
buzz, Málaga city is only a 25-minute drive.
