Locations in the wonderful city of Granada don't come any better than this.
Marvelously appointed, this luxury apartment for two has
views across to the incomparable Alhambra Palace which are simply sensational.
It's so close that you feel you can reach out and touch it.
It's without doubt one of the most prestigious addresses in Andalucía.
One of six private apartments in a quiet residential courtyard, it is reached
by a leisurely stroll through the enchanting, flower-filled alleyways of the lower
Albaicín, just a stone-throw away from the banks of the River Dauro, with
the Alhambra rising up dramatically on the other side. All of the windows of the apartment
open onto this wonderful view which is even more inspiring at night when the Palace
is floodlit. It's magical!
The apartment is every bit as beautiful as the view. It's immaculately furnished,
with original works of art everywhere, and some exquisite antiques too. Fully
equipped with everything you would expect in such a desirable home, it's also
spacious, warm and friendly. The light flooding in from the massive balcony windows
adds sunshine to its inherently graceful charm.
The distribution is simple: the doorway from the communal stairway opens directly
to the living / dining room with the kitchen to one side, neatly separated off
by an archway and bartop. Both rooms have balcony windows looking across to the
Alhambra.
A door on the other side of the living room takes you into
the master bedroom (where you can enjoy that same view whilst enjoying your breakfast
in the sumptuous, antique four-poster bed) and from here an almost invisible
door within the beautifully carved, chestnut-panelled rear wall takes you through
to a marble, en-suite bathroom.
There's central heating and air conditioning throughout
(both are essential in Granada, a city of climatic extremes, very hot in mid summer
and pretty chilly in the winter). Communal facilities, shared with the other residents,
include an inviting little swimming pool and gardens situated in an enclosed patio
at the rear of the building.
Like most ancient cities, Granada is not a place to drive in. Streets are narrow
and convenient parking is not always easy to find. It's very much a city to walk
in, by far the best way to discover its unique history and enjoy its exuberant
street-life.
Moreover, driving within the Albaicín district itself
is now restricted to residents only. Collection (and return) to either Granada
or Málaga airports can be provided (see note below for prices). If you
do bring a car, you will need to park some distance awy as it's now impossible
to enter the district without the appropriate permit).
The Albaicín is the root and soul of Moorish Granada, a rabbit warren
of beautiful old houses, famous for their walled gardens, flower-filled walkways
and some lovely plazas. It's an area which retains all the romance and character
of times gone by. This notwithstanding, the city's main shopping centre, excellent
restaurants and a plethora of pavement bars and cafes are all close at hand.
It's a wonderful city and this apartment offers a unique and very
privileged opportunity to discover it from within its very heart.
