Villa Description
This magnificent estate is hidden In the hills, deep in sublime countryside, just twelve kilometres to the north of Ronda. It's truly wonderful here, acre upon acre of mature cork oak forest, parkland and olive groves. Turn through its gates and the outside world simply disappears!
Within its walled grounds, a wide driveway leads up through the trees to three independent houses, all a stone's throw away from each other.
The two larger ones, "Los Olivos" and "Las Encinas" have three bedrooms; the third is a little one bedroomed cottage. They combine perfectly for a large group of family or friends, an ideal combination of independent space and togetherness.
Owned by one of London's finest interior designers, her unique creative talent and exemplary good taste are apparent everywhere.
She is continually enhancing and improving the property (a tennis court here, a stunning bathroom suite there … ) and it is now one of the most relaxing and enjoyable places to stay in all Spain.
Whether inside or out, it exudes quality and character, a really beautiful home which will delight and enchant you.
Los Olivos
All on one floor, "Los Olivos" is exquisite in every detail and comfort. The 90 m2 living / dining room is a mélange of antiques, original paintings and plush, down-filled chairs and sofas. A dining area with table and chairs for six occupies one end of the room.
Soft light pours in from windows which run down both sides of the room, enhancing its bright, summery feel. It's gorgeous!
A wall of French windows leads to a colonnaded, covered terrace running the length of the room and beyond.
The views from here extend over the fragrant, colourful gardens immediately in front of you, across the gently rolling hillsides of the estate's mature woodlands to the ancient Roman settlement of Ronda La Vieja in the far distance.
Indoor and outdoor living have been seamlessly and luxuriously blended. The terrace has furnished areas to suit your every mood and occasion.
There is cushioned bench and cane seating at one end; further along, wooden armchairs and a cane sofa are gathered around a Moroccan coffee table. At the other end, with direct access to the kitchen, the long, marble-topped dining tables comfortably seat all the guests for delightful al fresco entertaining.
A lovely place to be at any time, at night it really comes into its own when the tall, stand-mounted candles which line the terrace are lit. There is lighting in the gardens too.
The excellent standard of furnishing and decor continues throughout the rest of the house. A hallway from the living room leads first to the well equipped kitchen. Spacious and attractive, you will enjoy cooking in here. French doors open to the dining terrace outside.
Further down the hall are two bedrooms, one with a queen-size double bed (also with access to the terrace) and another with a double bed which can be unzipped to make two singles, if preferred.
These rooms share a bathroom between them (with walk-in shower, no bath tub) which is also accessed from the hallway.
At the end of the corridor, down three steps, is the very classy and beautifully furnished master bedroom suite with its own sitting area, a very stylish, queen-sized four-poster bed and full en-suite bathroom (with walk-in shower).
A more recent addition is a fabulous private terrace area immediately outside. Two sets of double doors open to the wonderful world outdoors.
The formal gardens in front of "Los Olivos" are separated from the pool area by a high wall. Just wander around the lawned surrounds and suddenly you are in a completely different but equally delightful part of the grounds.
Here, the azure-blue waters of the huge 15 x 7 metre swimming pool are completely irresistible … It's a magnificent pool with a wide, surrounding sun terrace, furnished with lots of good quality loungers and side tables shaded by large parasols, plus a shaded area with a table for lunch or dinner. There is also a poolside bar equipped with fridges. There's all the sunshine you could ever want and plenty of leafy shade too, provided by the beautiful old oak and olive trees which surround it.
It's a lovely spot, views extending across joyous countryside in every direction, birds singing happily in the branches of magnificently shaped trees. Heaven!
Las Encinas
All on one floor, "Las Encinas" is full of charm and character, a place where guests will enjoy the same quiet luxury as in the main house.
It is a slightly smaller home but every bit as comfortable. Lovely pieces of furniture, chandeliers, mirrors and paintings set the mood, an intoxicating blend of antique richness and modern convenience.
To the left of the central entrance hall, the large living / dining room is very special, not least because of its fabulous, gently curved wood beamed ceiling which dominates the room.
This sets off pretty fabrics, comfortable furnishings and some splendid antiques. There is a flat screen TV (satellite free-to-view system) and a DVD / CD player.
A dining area with table and chairs for six occupies one end of the room. Soft light pours in from windows which run down both sides of the room, enhancing its calm, welcoming ambience.
At one end it leads through to a compact but fully equipped kitchen. Both the kitchen and salon open onto a private, walled patio garden, fragrant with flowers, lemon trees and jasmine and alive to the sound of water from a large Spanish fountain, inviting outdoor lounging and dining.
To the other side of the entrance hall (which opens to lawned gardens and to the estate grounds) a short corridor leads to the three bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms have splendid four poster double beds; the other is twin bedded. Two of them have luxurious en-suite marble bathrooms, both inspired by the best in Moroccan design.
A third, large bathroom (with walk-in shower) completes the distribution. Lawned grounds at the front of the house lead round to the pool area.
La Casita
"La Casita" is a pretty little cottage, just a few metres away. It's ideal for a couple who cherish a little privacy, or for youngsters old enough to be left on their own.
A few steps from the two main houses, its a genuinely rustic cottage, cosy and comfortable. A small sitting room with a large fireplace offers warmth and intimacy. The double bedroom is to one side, a little kitchen and the bathroom (with walk-in shower) at the end. It has it's own private terrace at the front.
If you want to expend a little energy, there is a ping pong table on the pool terrace.
For more serious exercise, take a stroll across the grounds to the immaculate all-weather tennis court which is beautifully set in the trees, some 200 metres from the house. In the distance, the peaks of the Serranía de Ronda mountain range form a spectacular backdrop. There are racquets and balls available.
And if you feel the need to lie down after your exertions there, you can move on to the giant hammock (it's big enough for two) slung between the trees. Here you will enjoy the view up to the ruins of the theatre of Acinipo (all that now remains of a Roman city created more than 2,000 years ago).
Easily accessed via a wide countryside track (in excellent condition) this is an ideal base for adventures beyond its boundaries as well as being a relaxing and joyous place just "to be".
A gorgeous home which offers comfort, quality and real style, perfectly complimented and enhanced by the beauty of its magnificent estate.
