Villa Description
This attractive, Mediterranean-style villa has a fantastic location. A great place for a relaxing holiday, here you will enjoy glorious sunshine, countryside tranquillity and stunning sunsets to the full.
But it is also right in the centre of Andalucía, an ideal base from which to explore Southern Spain's many treasures, whether it be to visit the Alhambra in Granada, the Mezquita in Córdoba or the Giralda in Sevilla. All are easily accessible, as are the beaches and golf courses along the Mediterranean coast.
South facing, it enjoys a private spot on a hillside with delightful views over the rolling countryside beyond, dotted with olive trees as far as the eye can see. There are other houses here and there in the distance but none which overlook the property.
It's lovely, a very rural and completely Andalusian setting on the edge of the Subbética Natural Park.
Outdoors is very attractive. There's parking (for two cars) just to the side of the villa and prettily planted garden areas which lead round to the inviting blue waters of the heated swimming pool (8 m x 4 m) and its wide terrace surrounds.
Here you will enjoy Andalucia's famous sunshine from dawn until dusk as well as serene views over mile upon mile of olive-covered hillsides.
There is plenty of open space, furnished with good quality wooden and cane sun loungers, as well as a choice of shaded areas.
These include an al fresco dining area immediately outside the villa and a pergola by the pool with semi-circular bench seating under a cane canopy.
There is a pool shower and a portable barbecue.
Inside, it's a fully functional Mediterranean villa, an 85 year old farmhouse which has been refurbished throughout to cater for all the holiday needs of its English family owners, whatever the time of year.
All rooms have electric radiators and each of the four bedrooms have fans.
An entrance lobby leads through to the comfortably furnished living room, with cream sofas gathered around an open fireplace.
A calm, serene space, mod-cons include satellite TV (Free to view) and a DVD. There's WiFi internet too. Cream walls and marble tiles are offset by splashes of colour from cushions and paintings.
The kitchen / dining room is next door. Well equipped with an oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, it can also be accessed directly from the pool terrace.
A full bathroom and one of the four bedrooms completes the distribution on this floor. The downstairs bedroom (albeit up eight steps), is a good sized double with an en-suite bathroom (shower only). This also has a door which leads round to the swimming pool.
There are two bedrooms upstairs, both doubles, both neatly furnished under their wooden beamed ceilings. Please note that one leads through to the other, there is no other access.
The fourth bedroom (also a double, with an en-suite bathroom) has its own independent access just to the side of the villa's front door.
The delightful situation of the villa is good enough reason to enjoy a holiday here. But do try to explore the lovely countryside of La Subbética: it's incredibly beautiful, a land of rugged hills and deep valleys, spectacular scenery and a thriving ecology.
It also has some very pretty towns and villages - such as Priego de Córdoba, Zuheros and, closest to here, Iznájar.
Iznájar perches spectacularly on a rocky outcrop high above the the vast "Lake of Andalucía", a wonderful sweep of azul blue water, 32 kilometres long, surrounded by hills of olives and almonds. The town appears like an island rising from its waters.
In the opposite direction, Antequera is another fascinating little town. Very pretty, it is hugely rich in history, culture and heritage and continues to retain an almost medieval air.
Other places of interest and beauty well worth a visit include Ronda, The Sierra Nevada, El Torcal Natural Park (near Antequera), Las Alpujarras and Gibraltar.
And, if that's not enough, there are always the truly magnificent, historic cities of Andalucía - Sevilla, Granada and Córdoba! Each of them quickly and easily reached along excellent motorways.
Wherever you go, what better than to return here, to the peace and quiet of countryside life on a hill in the heart of Andalucía.
