Spectacularly situated in the beautiful valley of Rio Guadalfeo, this attractive holiday home and its wonderful, partly wild gardens are surrounded by terraced orchards of mature olive and fruit trees.
It's a fabulous spot, a secluded bowl of natural beauty which opens up to reveal the dramatic backdrop of Sierra Lújar rising up in the distance.
The floodlit gardens (part wooded, part lawned) are landscaped on two levels from the natural countryside, with oranges growing all around the filtered, springwater-filled swimming pool (which also has a small splash pool for children). Access to the pool is fenced and gated so safe for young children.
The house is traditional Alpujarran, recently extended and refurbished throughout. The living room / diner and both bedrooms have direct access to a delightful terrace which flanks the house, partly covered by an ancient vine; an ideal spot for sunbathing or simply relaxing with the fragrance of the orange blossom and the ever changing colours of the mountains beyond.
Inside, there are many features of local craftsmanship: 'Arabic' tile work, beamed ceilings, and a main bedroom carved into the rock behind the house to give the impression of a cosy cave.
Furnishings are good quality, tasteful and comfortable. Good insulation and double glazed windows guarantee comfortable winter nights as well as a pleasurable siesta on a hot summers afternoon.
Not only is it a very beautiful situation, it's also very handy for getting around and about. Just a couple of kilometres from Órgiva, it's easy to nip into town or, a little further afield, travel to Granada or down to the Mediterranean coast.
All in all, a very satisfactory and always popular holiday home.
