Property Description
This old town house has been neatly renovated in "Granadino" style (the local Spanish style) to cater for the needs of a large family or group of friends.
Apart from its seven bedrooms, it has plenty of living space to enjoy being together, or to keep to oneself in a quiet corner, both inside and outside. Please note, however, that there are only two bathrooms indoors, sometimes a little frustrating when shared between a dozen people.
The patio running along the whole front and one side of the house is shaded by a grape vine and wisteria, with views to the Guadalfeo valley through arches of greenery.
The tennis court lies at the other end of an attractive garden full of Mediterranean plants with clearings for a fish pond, the good-sized swimming pool and an outdoor kitchen (with barbecue) in the shade of citrus trees.
From the tennis court there are splendid views over the valley of Orgiva and the surrounding mountains, all the way to the peaks of Sierra Nevada.
Its location on the edge of Órgiva gives it easy access to all the facilities of a traditional little Spanish town while retaining a rural feeling and countryside tranquillity.
There is much to enjoy in the surrounding area. Órgiva is set in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada and a day trip up the mountains to the high Alpujarran white villages is a must.
The Moorish architecture with its flat roofs and charming protruding chimney pots (which look like old men wearing jaunty hats) characterise the buildings in this area. Whether your passion is walking, climbing, horse riding, bird watching or just simply enjoying the fabulous views which stretch all the way to the sea, here you can do them all.
Closer to home the weekly market in Órgiva is not to be missed, either. This eclectic and cosmopolitan little town comes alive every Thursday morning as the streets become lined with stalls selling fruits and vegetables, hand made crafts and clothes.
A little further afield, the beach resorts of Salobrena and Almunecar on the Costa Tropical are no more than half an hour's drive away and, in the other direction, passing through the spa resort village of Lanjarón, the country road will quickly take you on to the motorway which will speed you on to majestic Granada, just 40 minutes away by car.
