This is a place for two people who want to "get away from it all" and who don't mind heading down a dusty, bumpy, 4 km. country track (although one kilometre is now surfaced with tarmac) to find their own corner of Andalucían tranquillity.
The track, which leads off the mountain road above Carataunas, is accessable in a normal car but it's a journey! The accommodation consists of a studio casita and a swimming pool, in a
sunny spot with tremendous views down the Guadalfeo river valley.
The studio of
38 m² is small and facilities are very basic, but there's a pleasant sitting area where the two beds may
be pushed together and a little kitchen area. Solar-power provides 24-hour lighting.
A wood-beamed verandah provides a neat breakfast area: from here and
from the raised swimming pool nearby, the views are splendid. In the morning you
can hear partridges sing. The only other sound is the mountain water that courses
down an ancient irrigation channel several hours a week. All around are grapevines
that the proprietor tends during the summer months. During your absence he may
take a dip in the pool.
An hour's drive will take you to Granada or to the beaches on the Costa Tropical.
From the top of the track are roads up to a Buddhist centre and the old, white
villages of the Poqueira, just a few minutes away.
