This recently built holiday home with a swimming pool and lawned gardens is just five minutes' drive from the market town of Órgiva.

The single-storey house has been designed with certain traditional features, such as the chestnut beams throughout and the cane awning which provides shade over the large front terrace, whilst modernity in fittings and fixtures for convenience and comfort predominates.

The house has three pleasant bedrooms leading off from an open-plan living and dining room, with a breakfast bar in the kitchen area.

Although sofas are set by the fireplace for cooler, winter months, it is sunshine and outdoor life that characterise life here in the warm, semi-tropical microclimate of the Guadalfeo valley. The shaded patio has an outdoor dining table for al fresco meals and a brick built barbecue.

The swimming pool is equipped with an ioniser, which provides chlorine-free water. So, no sore eyes, no matter how many dips you take! The gardens are fenced and an automated sprinkler system ensures that guests are rarely disturbed by gardening visits.

There are views all around to the surrounding hills and to the high peaks which often remain capped with snow despite the heat of early summer. Another garden area to the side of the house is a hide-away corner where children may play safely.

There is private parking inside the gate to the property, which is reached via a short, somewhat bumpy, track which leads off the country lane to Órgiva.

This eclectic and cosmopolitan little town comes alive every Thursday morning as the streets become lined with stalls selling fruits and vegetables, hand made crafts and clothes. From here, Granada, the beaches of the Costa Tropical and the old, Moorish villages of the high Alpujarra are all within driving distance for day trips, each a completely different experience.
