Descending the storybook labyrinth of narrow, winding streets is one of the delights of being in Capileira, but staying at the top of the village near the little shops, restaurants, bars and parking has its attractions, too!

Excellently situated very near the square, yet in a quiet corner where one can sit out, this small village house is built with wood-beamed ceilings and handmade terracotta floor tiles.

Neatly renovated and comfortably furnished, it is a friendly house with lots of charm, ideal for a couple who want to enjoy the genuine atmosphere of the beautiful Alpujarra mountains and one of its most popular villages.

Capileira is in great walking country and has a variety of eating and drinking spots and craft shops. The second highest village in Spain, it is spectacularly moulded onto the mountainscape 1,435 metres above sea level. Its old streets - happily too narrow for cars - entwine and criss-cross their way a full hundred metres down the side of the gorge.

An enchanting maze of ancient dwellings, cats and geraniums, hens and goats, nooks and crannies, fountains and sudden, dramatic views - both down the valley and up to the mountain backdrop of Sierra Nevada, where blue skies meet pure white snow cresting the peaks - there are few more beautiful situaions anywhere in Europe.
