Capileira is the highest village in the Poqueira Ravine, considered by many to
be the most beautiful valley in La Alpujarra, and is a popular stopping point
for visitors to the area. At the very top of the village, on the road that leads
up to the high mountains, you will find "Finca Los Llanos", a three-star
hotel built in the traditional style of the area.
Owned and run by a delightful family from the village, "Finca Los Llanos"
has 40 double rooms all with a view (19 of which have terraces), three single
rooms (two of which have terraces and views). There is one family room and one
junior suite (for two people).
All have en-suite bathrooms, central heating,
TV, radio, hair dryers and a small fridge. The style is typical "modern"
Alpujarran.
All the amenities one would expect from a 3-star hotel are available too; restaurant,
bar / cafeteria, an excellent swimming pool, barbecue and terrace areas, gardens,
laundry service, reception etc. Full board, half board and breakfast are all available.
Capileira is the second highest village in Spain, moulded
onto the mountainscape 1,435 metres above sea level. Its old streets - happily
too narrow for cars - entwine and criss-cross their way a full hundred metres
down the side of the gorge. It's an enchanting maze of ancient dwellings, their
cats and geraniums, hens and goats, nooks and crannies, fountains and sudden,
dramatic views - both down the valley to Capileira's attractive sisters, Bubión
and Pampaneira, and up to the mountain backdrop of Sierra Nevada, where blue skies
meet pure white snow cresting the peaks.
Spectacular from afar
- a white crown on the great Poqueira Ravine - its architecture characterised
by 250 years of Moorish occupation and its culture by centuries more of hardship,
it has developed today into a pretty, friendly place, popular with visitors seeking
remote beauty coupled with good facilities.
If you want to enjoy all that the village and its surrounds have to offer, "Finca Los Llanos" will make you feel at home.
