Property Description

Dating back to 1492, this superb marquess' mansion has been extensively restored and modernised, with immaculate care to ensure that all of the original characteristics have remained unaltered.

The result is outstanding accommodation of the very highest quality, in a spectacularly beautiful location between Granada and the sea.

It is the perfect place for small groups to get away from it all, whether to relax or to work, in a peaceful and very elegant environment. Wedding receptions for up to 100 guests (preceded by an official marriage blessing in the private chapel, if desired) can also be arranged.

Set deep in the heart of the Spanish hinterland, this jewel of Andalusian architecture is now offered as a delightful country property that can accommodate from 12 to 24 guests, making it ideally suited for mixed family holidays, small business conferences and seminars, or as a base for special interest groups.

The property comprises the mansion house itself (where most of the accommodation is located), a separate cottage with two bedrooms, spacious ornamental gardens, private chapel, swimming pool, tennis court and an outside summer bar /eating area, all surrounded by magnificent views of the hillsides and valley. Entrance to the property is electronically controlled, guaranteeing privacy for guests at all times.

A marvellous residence amidst a sea of countryside tranquillity, the mansion house exudes an ambience of understated, old-style luxury. Guest areas include a splendidly restored, columned and vaulted drawing room with original stone fireplace, a wood-panelled dining room, library and games room-cum-museum.

The old-style atmosphere of the mansion has been very carefully preserved. For this reason, you will not find air conditioning or central heating units, minibars or telephones in the rooms. In the winter, electric heating for the bedrooms and open log fires for the lounge areas are, of course, provided. And if guests wish to communicate by telephone, fax or email then they can do so from the library.

The Palacete can accommodate up to 20 guests in the main house plus four more guests in the two-bedroomed courtyard cottage.

There are eleven en-suite bedrooms in the mansion, each different, each decorated with antique furnishings, as well as the two-bedrooms in the self-contained cottage. Recently decorated in rustic style, the cottage shares the same facilities.

The grounds are equally impressive. Ornamental Moorish-style gardens are laid out all around the Palacete. Their shady bowers, jacaranda and topiaried hedges are meticulously maintained.

They enclose a swimming pool (bordered by ancient cypress hedges and fed by a natural spring), a pool bar and the tennis court. The pool can be heated (on request). Alongside the main house is a beautiful and now fully restored, private chapel.

Views range far and wide over huge chirimoya groves and down to the shimmering Mediterranean. The scenic drive from here to the Moor's Sigh, overlooking the city of Granada, is a must.

This is an excellent base from which to explore the area or undertake organised sporting or cultural activities. For sightseers there is Granada itself, the Sierra Nevada ski resort, the Costa Tropical and the Alpujarra mountains, just a few of the numerous attractions that lie within a short drive of the property.

Main Palacete : Sleeps a maximum of 20 in eleven double and twin rooms which include two suites and two 'superior' double rooms.

Room 6 : Spacious room with canopied double bed and luxury bathroom. Facing south and east, it has the best views


Room 7 : Twin beds, ensuite bathroom. Sofa/bed in connecting room, north and east facing


Room 8 : Twin beds, ensuite bathroom, living room area, north facing


Room 9 : Rear tower. 4-poster double bed, ensuite bathroom, private terrace. Faces south and east

Cottage

Ground Floor : A small vine-covered terrace leads to front door, entrance hall; fully equipped modern kitchen; bathroom/W.C., sitting room with open fireplace and french windows which open onto a west-facing terrace with panoramic views over an unspoilt valley


First Floor : Two twin bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms; landing / study area with open fireplace; stairs to storage area in attic. One bedroom overlooks the courtyard, the other has views of the valley

 

Notes

Weather permitting, the swimming pool is open throughout the year. Heating can be arranged in winter months for a supplement (arranged in advance)


Prices are inclusive of maid service (3 hours per day, 7 days per week) & gardener / handyman (4½ days per week)


Additional maid services can be provided (at the rate of 9 € per hour) and cooking services (at the rate of 13 € per hour). Payments should be made directly to staff on a weekly basis in euros. Food and drink bought on behalf of the guests is paid for on a daily basis. All extra cooking or cleaning should be arranged in advance of arrival


The swimming pool can be heated in winter months (November through to May). There is a charge of 250 € for this (payable in cash on arrival). A minimum of two weeks notice is required if you want the pool to be heated


There is a winter fuel charge of 250 € per week in mid and low season (payable in cash on arrival)


Rentals are for a minimum of one week in high season - Easter week, May to October (inclusive) & Christmas & New Year - with arrivals / departures normally on a Saturday, athough this is not always essential. In low & mid seasons the minimum rental period is three nights (prices on application)

Refundable Security Deposit : a £1,000 security deposit is payable on each booking. This will be refunded six weeks after your holiday, subject to reductions for breakages, damage or supplementary cleaning (the property should be left in the same condition as you found it) plus any telephone charges incurred

Short Breaks: In low and mid season the property may be rented on a daily basis (minimum 3 days). Prices on application. In high season the minimum rental is one week

Rentals for this property are accepted on the following terms: (1) a deposit of 25% will confirm the booking (2) the balance of the rental (and the security deposit) to be paid eight weeks before the holiday start date. There will be no refund of monies paid on cancellations after that date
