This is a quality holiday home,
perched on a hill with sweeping views over a classical Andalusian scene of seemingly endless rolling
hillsides of olive, cork oak and orchards.
Accessible from a little country road
via a short track, it is totally peaceful and gives the feeling of being completely
remote even though there are still working farms around and about,
little changed by the passing of time.
Apart from the obligatory olive trees, this extensive property (the estate comprises 40,000 m2) is planted with every possible indigenous Andalusian fruit tree, including some rare ones, and guests are welcome to help themselves to their delicious bearings.
Inside,
the house is spacious and comfortable, conceived initially as an extended family's
summer house. In the large sitting room dominated by its wooden staircase, comfortable
sofas surround the fireplace. The
country-style kitchen is well equipped and has a door to a shady outdoor eating area under
a pergola, covered by a huge grape vine.
The owner, who is a professional interior
decorator, has added many exotic touches to the attractive rustic furniture, such
as fabrics and carved screens from India.
In the lawned garden, benches
situated in strategic places provide relaxation and excellent views, or one can
sit around the barbecue. There is, of course, a magnificent swimming pool.
The estate is bordered by a gorge (where wild ducks come to nest), dominated by rugged cliffs. There is a steep fall here, so please take care. On hot summer days it is a lovely place for a gentle stroll by the side of the stream which runs through the gorge.
