If you are looking for a beautiful rural paradise, you won't find a better, or more
idylic setting than this.
The situation is magnificent with rolling hills of olives and pine
all around, and views in every direction, as far as you can see, of Andalusian
nature at its very best.
There are no neighbours (apart from a few chickens housed at the far end of the
property). Maybe you will see an occasional farmer with his mules, working the
fields in the distance. Otherwise, there's just birdsong and wild flowers, blue
skies and sunshine all around to enjoy. It's a great place to be.
There is lots of outside space.
At the front of the farmhouse is a large era (the old, stone threshing
circle) with plenty of room for parking, and there is another terrace (with a
table and chairs) to the side, close to the kitchen - a lovely spot to enjoy a
glass of wine or to eat outside in the fresh air. A short flight of steps (gated
at the top so it's safe for children) will take you down to the swimming pool
which is on a big lower terrace which also has a large cane-covered, shaded area
and a built-in barbecue.
It doesn't matter where you are on this property,
the views are always magnificent.
The property is a genuine, old-style
countryside cortijo which has been extensively renovated and redecorated throughout
to make a comfortable holiday home. It's not luxurious, but it's neat and pretty
inside, the sunlight pours in and there's a cosy, rural ambiance about it all.
Furnishings are rustic in style.
On the ground floor one enters to the living room, a cool, white space with
sofas and the dining table. The kitchen leads off from one end and a double bedroom
from the other. Upstairs is the bathroom, one twin bedroom and two more double
bedrooms, one of which leads through from a childrens bedroom with bunk beds.
There is a small outside shower room on the upper terrace as well.
With five bedrooms, the cortijo could cater for up to eight adults plus two children,
but in our opinion, the kitchen, dining and bathroom facilities are best suited
to a party of six, and certainly no more than eight.
The small price to pay for this fabulous location is that it's accessed via five
kilometres of farm track. It's a slow but lovely drive through the countryside
of the Poniente Granadino, and the track is in good condition. At the end of the
track, the road will quickly take you on to Montefrío, the main pueblo of the area with shops, restaurants and bars but still retaining its predominantly
agricultural air.
Further afield are Granada, Córdoba and Seville,
all easily accessable from this central location, not to mention the beaches of
the Costa del Sol and its alternative attractions to the south.
