This thoroughly modern duplex apartment is a delightful place to stay. It is part of a recently completed, quality private development (which comprises six luxury apartments and two houses in total) in the centre of lovely Gaucín village. Facilities include a gorgeous shared swimming pool and garage parking which is a huge benefit, particularly when the village is busy during fiestas and in summer.
South facing, the apartment takes full advantage of the magnificent, panoramic view which unfolds in front of you, the pretty white village (with its Moorish castle on high) away to the left, the dramatic Crestellina Ridge rising up from the surrounding hills, the Rock of Gibraltar in the distance with the Mediterranean and Africa beyond. Ever changing, it's a view that is always inspirational.
One enters to the main living area, a huge and very welcoming space, its design and layout clean, crisp and uncluttered. White predominates with dark wood and colourful fabrics offering attractive contrast. One end contains a thoroughly modern and well equipped kitchen area with built in dishwasher, eye-level oven and microwave. An island with a ceramic hob completes this part of the room with a dining table, which seats six, just beyond.

At the other end of the room is the sitting area, a comfortable white sofa (which can convert into a double bed) and two armchairs gathered around a wooden coffee table in front of the glass fronted fireplace and the satellite TV/DVD player. Sliding glass doors open to the splendid open terrace, which runs along the entire length of the room, a great spot for eating out on long summer nights, taking in the view over the village roof tops to the castle (floodlit at night), the mountains rising up behind and the twinkling street lights of Morocco sometimes visible far away across the sea.

Stairs go down from the living room to the two bedrooms, one
double master bedroom (with a four poster bed) and one twin bedded. Both feature beautiful views, large dressing areas and well appointed, stylish en-suite bathrooms. En suite to the master bedroom has both a large bath and a separate shower cubicle, twin basins and W.C. En suite to the second bedroom has a shower cubicle, basin and W.C. Both bedrooms open to a lower terrace which also runs the entire length of the apartment. This one is shaded.
From the lower, covered terrace steps lead down to the gated swimming pool which is shared with the other apartments in the development. The pool is large, inviting and surrounded by a terrace with sunbeds, a pool shower, fridge - and excercise bikes too.
There are lots of extra touches which will make your holiday complete: everything has been designed to provide a beautiful living environment. Central heating and air conditioning throughout and double glazed windows ensure year round comfort, pool towels are included, and the DVD player accepts all regional codes so wherever you come from, your DVD's will work here. And one is struck by how beautifully quiet the apartment is, just one of the benefits of excellent insulation. The English house manager lives nearby and is on hand for meeting and greeting, local information etc.

Gaucín is one of the classic white village of Andalucía, spectacularly situated in the mountains behind the Costa del Sol in the Serrania de Ronda. There are fabulous views at every turn. Its narrow streets house four supermarkets and a traditional butcher, an organic food shop, banks (cashpoints) and a pharmacy. Within walking distance of the apartment are a variety of small restaurants and tapas bars, one of which hosts regular flamenco performances.
Being in the village, it's easy to stroll out to one of the excellent restaurants here, and there's plenty to do close at hand quite apart from enjoying the village and its wonderful views: whether you want to explore the wonderful nature, breathtaking vistas and first class hiking of the Serranía de Ronda (guided walks, birdwatching and horse riding can be arranged), discover the culture and traditions of historic Ronda, or enjoy the beaches and golf courses of the Costa del Sol, there's something for everyone.
Beautiful Mediterranean beaches are only 30 minutes away by car. The wilder, white beaches of the Atlantic coast, on the Costa de la Luz, are about 1½ hours drive away.
