Built in 1997 in lovely open countryside, one kilometre from the village of San Pablo de Buceite, this secluded property is more or less halfway between Gibraltar and Ronda. Set in its own 12 acres of pasture and ancient olive groves, it overlooks the lush valley of the Guadiaro with stunning views to the mountains beyond.
It's an extremely comfortable and well equipped house with two bedrooms (one double-bedded, one triple-bedded, both with en-suite bathrooms), a lovely, spacious living room / kitchen area and a utility room. French windows lead from the living room on to the south facing sun patio. The swimming pool (8 m x 4 m) is right beside the terrace. There is about half an acre of fenced garden. A perfect base for anyone who enjoys the peace and quiet of real Andalusian countryside.
The living room is 11 metres long with a high timber-beamed ceiling. It has a wood burning stove for the winter months, large picture windows overlooking the valley, satellite TV and CD/DVD Player. The well equipped kitchen area is at one end and French windows open on to the east and south facing terraces.
The villa has a telephone and unlimited use of an Internet connection for your computer. It has excellent reception for mobile telephones.
Surrounded by forests, hills and river valleys, there are excellent walking tracks, spectacular views and, during migration, masses of birds passing overhead. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty famous for its spring wild flowers and also offers excellent riding (15 mins), golf (30 mins) and beaches (30 mins).
San Pablo de Buceite lies in the Guadiaro valley 50 km north of Gibraltar and midway between the ancient Moorish “white villages” of Gaucin and Jimena de la Frontera. It is within an hour’s drive of Ronda and day trips can be made to Seville, Granada and Cordoba. The nearest beach is at Sotogrande (30 mins) and Tarifa, famous for its windsurfing and endless white sand beaches, is one hour away.
There are many golf courses at Sotogrande and horse riding and tennis are available near Jimena (10 mins). Gibraltar with its military history and duty free goods is 45 minutes and from there it is possible to join a boat and go dolphin and whale watching – very popular with all ages.
The English owners live a few hundred yards away where they run residential natural history holidays. They know the area well and are always pleased to help with local information.
