Nestled in some of the most stunning scenery in western Andalucía, this recently built house is ideal for those looking to experience the wonderful variety of southern Spain.
Surrounded by nothing but unspoilt countryside the house, constructed in
traditional rustic style, is set deep within the Ronda Mountains, yet only 45
minutes drive to the sea at Estepona and only five kilometres outside the beautiful
village of Genalguacil, famous for its art loving mayor and biannual
artist fairs. It was not so long ago that it won the prettiest village in Spain award.
Although largely undiscovered by the tourist world, this
village is a pleasure, with its quaint tapa bars, good restaurants and places of cultural
interest. There is nothing but beautiful countryside all around with other attractive little pueblos tucked away here and there.
Leaving the village, one descends to the property via a dirt road.
In some places it's steep with drops to the sides, so perhaps not ideal for less confident drivers. One of our clients described it as "challenging".
Set within rolling hills carpeted in ancient cork oak forests, the area offers
excellent walking opportunities while the two rivers, Genal and Almachar,
merge together less than 500 metres from the house, provide a soothing musical
accompaniment to the magnificent countryside setting, as well as offering excellent
freshwater swimming for anyone who fancy a refreshing dip.
It is easy to see why the house was designed and built with outdoor
relaxation and living in mind. A large, partially covered terrace is equipped
with dining furniture and a barbecue. It is graced by the attractive swimming pool just
a few steps below.
Inside, the central feature is its open-plan kitchen / dining / living area,
complete with TV and DVD. High-pitched ceilings complement the feeling of space and cheerful colours give it a cosy feel.
In cooler months, the large fireplace (enough firewood for your stay is included in the price)
generates a lovely warming atmosphere throughout the house. The ground floor also
has two bedrooms with a bathroom shared between them.
On the second floor there is a double bedroom with its own balcony overlooking
the mountains and river and a snug twin bedroom. They share a bathroom
between them.
This is an excellent rural retreat for those looking for peace
and tranquillity yet well within reach of true Andaluz culture, in Genalguacil and beyond, in Gaucín and in Ronda. Equally, it's not so far away from the buzz and the beaches of the Costa del Sol.
