This cottage is part of a joyously flamboyant farmhouse renovated throughout with
great taste and style, set magnificently in the southern Ronda mountains just
below the white village of Gaucín.
Located in 11 acres of almond and citrus orchards, carpeted with wild flowers in Spring, the views, across the mountains to the
Mediterranean and Morocco beyond are quite spectacular. It has been selected by Wedding Magazine as one of the ten most romantic places to stay in Spain.
The gardens are beautiful too, full of colourful shrubs, shady trees and terraced
with lawns. And the swimming pool … "one of the finest swimming pools
I have ever seen" in the words of Simon Davis, writing in the Sunday Telegraph.
In July and August the entire property is rented out, but for the rest of the year the owners operate a small b&b business in the main house and rent out the cottage on a self catering basis.
Independent from the main house, the cottage shares
the gardens, the main swimming pool and the outside jacuzzi, not to mention the wonderful views, with guests staying in the main house. It has a spacious 70m2 of living
area. Light pours in on two sides with French doors leading
out to the south facing balcony on one side and the west facing terrace and it's
own plunge pool on the other.
The interior decoration is charming. The pale washed terracotta walls with soft
blue grey beamed ceiling form the main living area and include a fireplace surrounded
by seating, a pine corner cupboard and Moroccan rugs on the terracotta floor.
Stairs lead up to an open balcony where there is a cosy low ceiling bedroom with
convertible twin or double beds. The kitchen area at one end with fridge, hob
and oven is fully equipped. The entrance hall / study with wood burning stove, leads
to the bathroom with walls washed in cobalt blue.
The plunge pool, equipped with high power water jets, and situated between the
south and west terraces is a lovely place to cool off and relax. Guests are welcome
to use the main 104 m2 swimming pool.
And for anyone who enjoys tennis, you will
be unlikely to find a more beautiful court anywhere in southern Spain, with dramatic
scenery all around and views to the village on its rocky perch above. The court is pristine with an American all weather cushioned surface.
For those who want to venture from this mountain paradise, there's lots to do.
The charming village of Gaucín is there to discover, Mediterranean beaches
are 30 minutes away, the Atlantic beaches of the Costa de la Luz little more than
an hour from here. There's tennis, riding, golf and magnificent walking even closer
to hand.
We also feature a two-bedroomed, independent cottage on this estate.
