Perched on a hillside with great views over the surrounding countryside, this recently converted little cottage is a lovely little hideaway, a perfect venue for a couple who want to escape from the hustle and bustle of life and enjoy a little relaxation.
Built into the bank just below and to the side of the owners home, it nevertheless has plenty of privacy including separate entrances, its own private terrace and car park.
The upper floor comprises a large, comfortable double bedroom. With windows on three sides and a lovely view over the olive groves which stretch out as far as the eye can see, it's an attractive and neatly furnished room. There's satellite TV, a little wood burning stove in the corner to take the chill off winter evenings and a ceiling fan to keep you comfortable in the height of summer.
A spiral staircase leads down to the lower floor. It's quite steep but well guarded and won't present any problem to anyone who is averagely mobile. Downstairs comprises a pretty shower room, a decently equipped kitchen corner and a little dining space with a table and chairs for two. It's a compact little house!
From here, French doors open to the casita's own, completely private terrace which runs along the length of the property. This is a lovely spot, with a comfortable al fresco dining area (with seating for four) immediately outside the kitchen. Shade is provided by a wood and cane awning. Further along the terrace, deck chairs and Andalusian sunshine await you! Looking out to delightfully quiet countryside, the view, across mile upon mile of olive covered hillsides, is as peaceful as they come.
The terrace and lower floor can also be accessed directly from external steps which run down the side of the property.
Back on the upper level, the cottage access (to the bedroom) is from a prettily cobbled terrace which extends around to the owners house. And below this (to the side of the rental cottage) is the swimming pool, its colourfully planted sun terrace and another al fresco dining area under the shady gazebo.
Guests staying at the cottage have exclusive use of all these very attractive outdoor areas, too. But they are overlooked by the main house and its terrace. We don't think this is much of a drawback, however, as the owners are such a relaxed and friendly couple (she's Dutch, he's English) that you will immediately be made to feel completely at home. In all probability you will become the best of friends within minutes!
A cosy little house with plenty of windows, here you will enjoy the sun, the views and the stunning sunsets to the full. A great place just to relax, it's equally well located for those seeking a base from which to explore the treasures of Andalucía, whether it be to visit the Alhambra in Granada, the Mezquita in Córdoba or the Giralda in Sevilla, all easily accessible by car. As are the beaches and golf courses along the Mediterranean coast.
Other places of interest and beauty well worth a visit include Ronda, The Sierra Nevada, El Torcal Natural Park (near Antequera), the Alpujarras and Gibraltar, as well as Priego de Córdoba and the other towns and villages of the delightful Subbética Natural Park on your doorstep.
Just fifteen minutes away, the traditional village of Iznájar (with its castle dating from the 8th Century and church from the 16th Century), has spectacular views over the 32 kilometre-long lake, the Embalse de Iznájar (also known as The Lake of Andalucia). Safe bathing and watersports are enjoyed on its sandy Valdearenas Beach. And whilst in Iznájar, try walking from the bottom to the top: if you weren't in shape before, you will be when you get there …
