The four kilometres
that separate "Huerta de las Palomas" from Priego de Córdoba place the hotel on
the outer reaches of the Subbética Natural Park, where it enjoys a very relaxing
setting, surrounded by trees and undulating countryside.
La Subbética de Córdoba is rich in culture and about
as authentic as Andalucía comes. It's also a very attractive corner of Spain.
Add to this the enviable spot on the map linking Córdoba and Granada with Sevilla,
and you see why Priego and its environs are an obvious choice for many visitors.
This quiet, rural hotel can be used either as a base for exploring and for excursions,
or as a restful country retreat along the way.
The hotel opened in 2004 with four-star
facilities and a smart, nouveau-rustic look. Its 34 bedrooms are distributed between
the first and second floors and accessed from a high-ceilinged central courtyard
via either the wide staircase or by lift. Rooms are spacious and have balcony
views out onto the gardens or countryside.
Public areas on the ground floor include
a hall with open fireplace, lounge, bar / café and "El Pozo" restaurant with a good
and imaginative menu. A terrace barbecue offers an alternative style and choice
of dining.
There are sporting facilities, too: a
fantastic swimming pool, covered in winter, and guests can use the club tennis
courts in the hotel grounds (pay-as-you-play, free use of racquets).
For adults
who want to exercise, there is a gymnasium and if you are travelling
with youngsters, there's a children's play area outside. There are gardens and
running water and nice walks around and about.
The hotel is easily reached down a little-used country
road from the highway that passes Priego de Córdoba.
