Property Description

This attractive little cottage is hidden away behind trees down a short, gravel drive amongst gorgeous countryside just a few minutes' from Órgiva. Close enough to town to be able to stroll there whenever you feel like it, yet far enough away to enjoy the tranquility of the wonderful nature all around, it's a great place for a holiday.

living room

All on one floor, there is a comfortable lounge / diner which opens through to the shaded terrace, barbecue area, pool and garden outside. At the other end of the room, the kitchen is separated off by a bar counter. The double bedroom and the bathroom (shower over bath tub) lead off. Both the living room and the bedroom have air conditioning.

A child's bed is available (if required) for a supplement.

pool and cottage

It's all very neat, tidy and cheerful with its red tiled floors and beamed ceilings. There are some nice home-made touches such as the hand-crocheted curtains. A smart and sunny holiday home.

Flanking, and belonging to the property, is an olive grove with trees of tremendous age.

bedroom

This is the younger, smaller sister villa of our ever popular ZA 35 which is next door. It has two bedrooms.

Enjoying the warm and wonderful microclimate of the lower Alpujarras, it is especially inviting to spend days and evenings outdoors, lounging by and taking dips in the delightful swimming pool.

pool and garden

And, when you need to stock up with a few provisions - or just fancy a stroll down town - it's just a few minutes walk to Órgiva. A cosmopolitan, thriving and friendly little town (population 5,000), it's effectively the "capital" of Las Alpujarras, where you will find everything from little supermarkets to banks, restaurants and bars. These spill out onto the pavements either side of the main plaza, always a good place to take a coffee and watch the world go by.

kitchen

With its ecclectic mix of old and new cultures, the town really comes alive each Thursday morning for the weekly market. Streets lined with stalls sell fruits and vegetables (there's some excellent organic produce), hand made crafts and clothes. For many it's just an excuse to head into town to meet up with friends.

garden

The countryside all around, in the fertile Vale de Órgiva, is beautiful. Swathes of orange and lemon trees, olives and pomegranates, bougainvillea, morning glory and jasmine bring joy to a sunny land. Surrounded by mountains, it's a rural paradise, brought to life, of course, by Chris Stewart in his best seller, "Driving Over Lemons".

bathroom

Beyond there's Granada, the dramatic scenery and beautiful Moorish villages of the high mountains, or Mediterranean beaches to choose from. In 45 minutes you can be visiting the famous Alhambra Palace in Granada or just soaking up the city's wonderful culture. A further 20 minutes up the mountain road from Granada will take you to the Sierra Nevada ski resort.

Heading south, you can soon be enjoying a seafood lunch on the beaches of The Costa Tropical in one of the small resort towns, Salobreña, Almuñecar or La Herradura.

the pool

If you want to streach your legs, there's wonderful hiking and horse riding in some of the most beautiful mountain scenery imaginable.

Las Alpujarras invites you to experience it all in your own way. Almost always, under Andalucía's life-giving, golden sun.
