Stylishly designed and imaginatively decorated, these two recently built apartments are an unusually modern find in rural Andalucia. Impressively situated high up on a hill overlooking the rolling countryside and olive groves of La Axarquía, only half an hour from Malaga, there is plenty of peace and quiet here.
The nearest neighbours are at least a few kilometres away - aside from the owner who lives in the main house situated directly behind the apartments. However, the owner’s house and both rental apartments each have their own separate entrances and she is always careful to respect your privacy.
Located side by side, both of these two bedroom apartments work perfectly, either as individual properties or as a larger space for those needing four bedrooms. One long south facing terrace (with lovely views) runs the full length of both apartments and a sturdy door remains closed if they are rented separately. Obviously, this will be opened if they are rented together.
Inside they are very similar both in layout and furnishings. Spit level and open plan they have a wonderful feeling of space and light. Almost the entire front is glass, making the most of the beautiful views across the valley. They really only differ from one another in their interior colour schemes. "Uva Blanca" has touches of yellow and green in the furnishings and "Uva Roja" has an orange and blue colour scheme.
Everything about these apartments is thoroughly modern, impeccably designed and of the highest quality and will appeal to those that like their creature comforts. Electric night storage heaters, for example, ensure a warmth and comfort throughout the year, making this a very attractive winter retreat.
Other features such as a shower room for each bedroom (the upstairs one comes complete with two basins and 'actors dressing room' style bulb lighting) make these apartments a luxurious choice for a holiday.
The outside space is equally well designed. From the living room you step through the sliding glass doors onto a sunny balcony (with an optional awning). This is the perfect spot to enjoy the birdsong in the mornings or to watch the sun dip behind the mountains later in the day.
Alongside is the main terrace for the apartment, where the shaded dining area and the private plunge pool are located. The plunge pools are not big but perfect for a quick dip if you just need to cool off.
If it’s a proper swim you’re after, then you need to venture round to the back of the owners house where the large 9 m x 4 m main pool is located. This pool, with its extensive sunbathing terrace, shaded areas and sunloungers is another delightful spot (shared with guests staying in the other apartment and with the owner, as are the extensive grounds of the property).
Just half an hour away from Málaga, these apartments are perfect for exploring the beaches, the mountains and the cities of Andalucía. Excellent motorways are close at hand which will quickly take you north to Granada (one hour away) or to Sevilla and Córdoba (two hours). The beautiful beaches of Nerja are just 45 minutes drive from here. The Costa del Sol, with Marbella as its centrepiece, is reached in less than one hour.
