This gives it a very special microclimate, with a cooling breeze taking the edge off extreme mid-summer temperatures and a pleasantly mild, maritime climate in winter. Being inland, the surrounding mountains protect the valley from the prevailing winds.
And, just to put the icing on the cake, the local village of Cútar (one kilometre away) is not just another pretty, whitewashed village hidden in the middle of nowhere, but a lovely, friendly place, too.
