In a hidden corner of the Axarquía, off the road which winds up from the coast to the renowned village of Cómpeta, lies this neat white villa with its inviting, floodlit swimming pool.
The villa comfortably sleeps four and the sofa in the lounge also converts to a bed. It is fitted to a good standard.
From its high platform there are lovely views of the surrounding mountain ranges, with small Andalusian villages clinging to them, here and there. The Mediterranean Sea peeps through in the distance.
In this lofty position, the house stands amongst sloping olive groves. There are neighbouring properties dotted about on the hillsides around and about but none are immediate neighbours.

The pool enjoys sunshine from dawn until dusk and the best views of all, over the coastal mountains and distant white villages to the Mediterranean Sea.
A large sitting room at the front, with a well-appointed kitchen to one side, leads up a few steps to the bedrooms and bathroom at the back.
Ceilings are high and floors are laid with terracotta tiles. This, together with quality fittings and furniture, creates a harmonious ambience, a great place to rest and recharge overworked batteries.
From the living area the main door opens to a covered patio where a grapevine overhead is growing fast, the best spot to view the sun setting over the Mediterranean, or to enjoy an outdoor meal and the gentle mountain breezes.
A smaller but more protected and secluded terrace to one side is an ideal place to take the sun.
The pool area is well located, with the best views of all. It enjoys the sunshine from dawn until dusk. There is a garden of lemon, orange and olive trees and, around the pool, plants add colour to what is already a pretty sight.

Accessed by a track from the road which links Cómpeta and Sayalonga, the property has its own car port. The track is one kilometre long with a number of areas along the track that require slow, careful driving. We do not recommend the use of a car with a low clearance from the ground as this will make travelling to and from the house more difficult.
The closest restaurants and bars, as well as many other amenities and facilities, are in Cómpeta which these days has an international, cosmopolitan community. The ‘Jewel of the Axarquia’, the small town (population 4,000) has fabulous views of the Mediterranean from its position 700 metres above sea level in the Sierra Almijara.
It is known for its wine production and the festival, El Noche del Vino is a celebration of all things wine, as well as flamenco dancing, sevillana music and general fiesta exuberance fuelled by plenty of free-flowing vino. It is held on 15th August. There is a museum too, dedicated to wine, where you can buy local produce and handicrafts.
It is a charming, flower bedecked old town with its main centre, the Plaza Almijara, dominated by a magnificent sixteenth century church. This bustling square is one of the best places to enjoy a break as it offers several bars, restaurants and pavement cafes. From the main square ancient cobbled streets snake away to reveal hidden squares, boutiques and restaurants.
The spectacular Casa de la Mira Nature Reserve is close by, with beautiful walking and wildlife to enjoy. Walking in the Sierras Almijara and Tejeda is always superb.
The Torrox Coast offers the closest beaches. A little further along this coast, Torre del Mar has the best promenade on the Costa del Sol and the even more international Nerja is well worth a visit as well.
Closer to home there is plenty to do, too: walking, painting, mountain biking, bird watching – or just relaxing here under the wonderful Andalusian sun.

Weather permitting, the swimming pool will be open from April to mid October each year. If conditions are favourable, it may be opened outside of these dates, on request (although, because it’s not heated, the normal swimming season is from late April to September, inclusive)
Rentals for this property run from Saturday to Saturday in July and August; at all other times they can start and finish on any day of the week
Prices are inclusive of a starter pack of essental groceries etc.
A weekly change of linen and towels is included for rentals of more than one week
