Review Icon"I want to send a quick email to say how much we enjoyed the villa. We had a fantastic holiday and the villa exceeded our expectations and looked as beautiful as it did in the pictures on the website. We loved it so much – we are having discussions already about maybe booking again for next year! Thank you for all your help and for a great service from Rustic Blue. "

Villa Description

Description of the villa

Relax with a drink on the terrace. This house was built to enjoy the outdoors and the wonderful views... a refreshing drink within reach is all you need to complete an unforgettable stay.

Enjoying your vacation begins before arriving at the villa, as the journey to the ancient city of Ronda in the mountains is a wonderful experience.

The road ascends the mountain and anticipates the wonderful views that are to come. The countryside is full of holm oaks, Mediterranean cypresses, pines and carob trees with the sounds of birds, cicadas and bees. In spring, after the winter rain, the wooded landscape is green and vibrant, overflowing with birds. Eagles soar over the road as it climbs towards Ronda.

This villa is not far from Ronda, only 8 km away, a few minutes drive to the town itself. An elegant family home that will make your stay an unforgettable time filled with peace and nature

The elements that make up the decoration, the exterior, the location... add up to make a truly comfortable villa.

What makes this house so special is that it has an indefinable warmth that can only come from being a much-loved home.

From the main entrance, you access a magnificent patio that has two shaded covered parking spaces.

Upon entering the large hallway on the ground floor, you have an instant feeling of luxury in this charming house. The rooms are bright and airy and are filled with sunlight. The best materials have been used in its construction.

On this ground floor, you will find the living room, kitchen, pantry, and bedrooms.

Upstairs, there is another bedroom with a closet, bathroom, 1.50 bed, TV, air conditioning with heat pump, ceiling fan with remote control, and two windows.

Walking outside of the living room, you will find the beautiful garden with an impressive pool surrounded by well-maintained lawn. The pool is charmingly accompanied by the impressively sized and cared-for garden and palm trees.

Outside there are armchairs to relax with a drink and a snack, as well as plenty of sun loungers for guests to recline and enjoy the Spanish weather. There is a barbecue and bar available for guests.

Snuggle up with your holiday book.

A comfortable corner in the garden means escaping from everyone, peace and quiet, and "do not disturb"!

The garden is a peaceful retreat Mediterranean flowers, tropical palms, and potted plants create an oasis of vegetation. Outside, there are three pergolas, one for use as a dining area, another for a relaxing zone with rest sofas, and the bar area with a fridge next to the barbecue, an outdoor toilet, sun loungers, and fixed thatched umbrellas.

Early birds will experience wonderful tranquility in the morning as the sun rises gently over this mountain range. Except for the whispering of blackbirds in the sky, everything is quiet and peaceful, and one only has to wait for the arrival of a glorious day ahead.

We leave the house and in the same large patio is what we call the Casita, which has a toilet and a fully equipped kitchen-living room with a fridge, microwave, washing machine, ceramic hob, table, chairs, sofa, low table, TV, and air conditioning with heat pump and ceiling fan with remote control, and three windows.

A perfect location for a holiday, Ronda is an ideal spot to enjoy the many pleasures of Andalusia. With this house, you'll not only have peace and privacy, but also the added advantage of being so close to one of the most beautiful towns in this region.

Ronda has almost all the facilities you'll need: small shops, pharmacies, banks, and, of course, bars and restaurants. And, like everywhere in Andalusia, it has more than its fair share of fiestas, traditional holy days, and processions, each one an excuse for celebrating and dancing.

This part of Andalusia is a paradise for walking, exploring, horseback riding, and bird watching. There are beautiful landscapes in every direction. It's also an ideal base for day trips to wonderful cities like Gaucín, Jerez, Cádiz, and Seville. There are charming small villages to explore, Mediterranean beaches within an hour's drive; the Atlantic coast with its fine white sand and famous windsurfing is an hour and a half's drive away.

Spanish riches ... olives, grapes and sunshine!

Enjoy all three, sitting on your terrace with not a care in the world.

Of course, this will only be the beginning of the culinary experience. During your stay, you may want to try many Andalusian specialties, such as the famous cured ham of the region (jamón), morcilla (a type of spicy blood sausage that is truly delicious), and chorizo. A common appetizer is habas (green beans) and pisto (a type of Spanish ratatouille) is always a good vegetarian option. Further towards the coast, the seafood is unbeatable and the variety can sometimes be bewildering. Try the chipirones, the rejos, which are small fried and crispy squid, and delicious. And, of course, a cold or clara beer (beer with soda) is the perfect accompaniment to shrimp tapas for lunch. The afternoon siesta will soon follow.

Don't miss the romantic beauty of the night here either. As the heat of the day turns into the gentle warmth of the night, the sun will soon be replaced by an incredible starry sky.

Ronda on your doorstep

With the famous 'City of Dreams' only ten minutes' away, you'll not be stuck for sightseeing ideas or places to eat out.

The ancient city of Ronda has such a rich history that it would be impossible to take in all its sights in just one day, or for that matter, one week. Known as Izna Rand Onda by the Moors, the town was settled by them in the eighth century, close to an earlier Roman settlement. The town's picturesque narrow streets and whitewashed walls are a link to that Islamic past, further enhanced by Renaissance and Baroque styles which followed centuries later.

Ronda is best explored on foot with plenty of stops for cool drinks and tapas along the way.

The 18th century 'Puente Nuevo' bridge linking the old Moorish quarter with the Mercadillo district is the most famous of Ronda's sights. This is a good starting point for any tour of Ronda.

Nearly as famous is the reputation of Ronda as the birthplace of modern bullfighting (although inhabitants of Sevilla would hotly dispute that). A visit to the bullring is an absolute must, whatever your views on this controversial tradition.

For a complete change of scene, the beaches of the Costa del Sol are near enough for a day trip, and even closer is the natural beauty of the Grazalema National Park.

A stay at this house allows you to sample a rare side of Spain, immersed in a traditional style yet with all modern facilities. The villa is in a peaceful and rural location yet within a stone's throw of an iconic Andalucían city for you to explore.

With this villa you have so many choices, all of them good ones.

    Around and About

This is an excellent base from which to explore this delightful and very beautiful part of Andalucía.

    Excursions

    • For trips out, you are spoilt for choice. Hemingway's favourite town in all Spain, Ronda, with its extraordinary gorge dividing the old and new quarters, is just 15 minutes away. With its mansion houses, quaint narrow streets, museums and art galleries and Spain's oldest bullring, it is well worth visiting.
    • La Costa del Sol with its wealth of sandy beaches, sun, fun and nightlife is an hour further south from Ronda. It's a very spectacular trip, too, crossing up and over the Sierra de las Nieves before descending to glitzy, glamorous Marbella and a very different world!
    • Here you are on the doorstep of the Grazalema National Park, one of the most beautiful tracks of mountain anywhere in Europe. Jagged peaks, gorges, chasms, faults and caves, underground rivers and deep canyons are interspersed, here and there, by some of the prettiest villages in Spain - Grazalema, Zahara, Setenil and the other famous "pueblos blancos".
    • On the wide, blue waters of the Embalse de Zahara (it's a reservoir but you would never know), you can swim or just enjoy the beautiful views all around from one of the little bars which open up in summer on the lake shore.
    • Take the dramatic little mountain road from Zahara which climbs high into the mountains and on to Grazalema. From here you can head west, crossing right over the magnificent sierras, thickly forested with cork oak and Spanish fir, to Arcos de la Frontera on the other side.
    • For something completely different, Sevilla takes less than 2 hours. It is impossible not to be captivated by its exuberant atmosphere: stylish, confident, ancient and proud, yet also convivial, intimate and fun-loving. If you don't know what alegría means, Sevilla is the place to learn!
    • Spain's unique sherry wine region (Jerez and Sanlúcar), is well worth a visit, enhanced no doubt by stopping at one or two of the famous bodegas along the way! Jerez de la Frontera is 2 hours.
    • Cádiz (2¼ hours) continues to evoke the romance, intrigue and mystery of centuries of trade (some legal, some not so) between Europe, Africa and the Americas.
    • Beyond lie mile upon mile of magnificent white beaches on Spain's Atlantic coast, La Costa de la Luz.
    • Córdoba and Granada are both 2½ hours drive from here.

    Activities

    • There are few better places in Europe than the Sierra de Grazalema to enjoy walking and hiking. We recommend "Walking in Andalucía" by Guy Hunter-Watts which includes six fabulous walks in the nearby countryside. The wonderful mountain terrain is equally facinating for twitchers, especially for spotting the big raptors. There are various guide companies in Ronda offering everything from one day caving adventures to hiking and bicycling trips.
    • The adventurous may want to try their hand at hang gliding or paragliding from Sierra de Lijar, just up the road at Algodonales. The village recently staged the World Paragliding Championships and is home to a number of paragliding schools with courses for beginners as well as tandem flights.
    • Horse trekking can be arranged at local stables.
    • Bicycle hire is easily arranged in Ronda. There are excellent cycle ways in the area including the Via Verde which runs along an abandoned railway line as well as far more challenging tracks for mountain biking.
    • Different water sports are on offer on the Zahara lake. Swimming is also possible at a number of secluded coves along the lakeside.
    • There is no more thrilling way of viewing the Ronda mountains than from a balloon. End your once-in-a-lifetime flight with a champagne breakfast overlooking Ronda’s old town.
