Villa Description

A secluded spot close to town

Although close to Gaucín village, this house is set in its own walled garden with nothing to disturb your privacy.

Just one minute's drive from the village of Gaucin, this villa is a four double-bedroomed house with a pretty lawned garden and pool. The house sleeps eight, with two double rooms and two twin bedded.

The house is on the main road just outside of Gaucín, but is set back from the road so it's quiet. Access is by a gated entrance to the gravelled front of the house. The property has a perimeter wall on three sides, a planted hillside on the fourth, and with no neighbours, the house is very private. There is parking for three cars in the front; the garden and pool are at the back of the house.

All around is the fresh, green landscape of trees and shrubs, broken only by the rocky outcrops of the mountain on which Gaucín is perched.

Utter peace

Ssshhh ... with only the buzzing of bees to disturb you, the loudest sounds are the splashes from the pool.

The garden is a lovely place to relax and eat, all in close proximity to the turquoise pool. A dining table for eight is next to a brick built barbecue which has a food preparation area and sink. Loungers are arranged around the pool for a spot of dozing in the sunshine.

The garden is full of mature shrubs and is surrounded by trees: almond, olive, chestnut and pine. The lawn provides more welcome greenery, absorbing the sun and making the garden a restful haven. The garden and pool are so appealing, why go anywhere else?

Inside the house is a large living room which leads to a similarly spacious dining room and a light and bright kitchen.

The living room has ample seating with four sofas and two armchairs. The fireplace has a glass fronted woodburner (a very efficient Hergóm stove), although with the gas central heating throughout, you'll be cosy enough when spending a winter holiday here.

Morning glory!

All the bedrooms have balcony views ... wake up to a fresh morning landscape.

All the bedrooms are upstairs. One double bedroom (shown here) is a spacious suite with a TV and sofa which converts to a bed, suitable for a child. It has en suite facilities with a bath tub and shower over, wc, bidet and twin basins. The suite also has a access to a sunny balcony terrace furnished with rattan chairs and a coffee table.

The second double bedded room has a Juliet balcony with views to the sea. The bed has a traditional brass bedstead and in our opinion, although a double, it would be better suited as a single for an adult or a double for two older children.

Bedrooms three and four are both twin-bedded with balcony views. Bedrooms two, three and four are not en suite, but share the bathroom on this floor. The bathroom has a bath with a shower over, bidet, wc and basin.

Holiday time is free time ...

... so spend it how you please. There's plenty to see and do.

The kitchen is decorated in a typical Spanish style, cheery and bright, with an open fireplace and crockery on display. There are lots of pots, pans and utensils at hand. The oven is electric with a four-ring ceramic hob, and there are all the usual facilities you'd expect in a modern kitchen: twin sinks, dishwasher, microwave and fridge freezer.

The utility room is just off the kitchen and it houses the washing machine, laundry sink and ironing facilities. A convenient cloakroom with wc and basin is on this floor too. The kitchen has its own direct access from the front of the house, making it easy to bring in food shopping from the car.

Although the house does not have air conditioning, all the bedrooms have portable fans. The house has the benefit of wifi internet.

The house is ideal for relaxing with family and friends by the pool with a barbecue and a cold beer. But if you want to get out and about, you're spoilt for choice with all the activities on offer.

Gaucín itself is well worth exploring, with its white, winding streets full of flowers and fountains at every turn, the photo opportunities are endless. Climb up to the ruined Eagle's Castle for stunning views of the countryside, the mountains and the sea. The famous city of Ronda is only forty minutes up the road by car. With its rich history, its neo-classical bullring and the romance of notorious bandoleros, it was bound to inspire poets, writers and artists.

And there's always the sea ... The sandy beach of Playa Sabinillas is only half an hour away and is ideal for children. The unspoilt Atlantic Costa de la Luz with its white sand and windsurfing vibe isn't far either. Catch a fast ferry and you can be in Morocco in under an hour, how's that for a day trip!

The costas present a different, yet fun, experience that is all part of Andalucía.

The location of this villa is ideal for guests who would like a peaceful holiday, away from the crowds, but with the convenience of amenities and restaurants close by.
