Villa Description
Set in a quiet, residential neighbourhood (urbanizacion), this house has amenities close by and convenience for the beach. It's ideal for guests looking for a fun beach holiday, sampling aspects of Mediterranean life, Spanish seaside style.
The house is a funky family home, lived in for most of the year, so it has the cheeriness of being loved and enjoyed. What's more, all the comforts of a real home are available, for example: air conditioning in every room, a well equipped kitchen, WiFi throughout, iPod charging, and en suite bathrooms for every bedroom. The English owners will meet you themselves, being able to give you first hand tips as to how to get the most out of your stay.
The house is five minutes' walk from the Casares Costa beach and close to Sabinillas beach (I km).
To get to the beach, there is a footbridge over the main road which runs along the coast. The road is at the bottom of the hill from the property and to some extent, traffic can be heard, but not excessively so. The house is surrounded by high hedges in that direction, so the road cannot be seen or accessed by children. The garden is fenced and planted with hedges, shrubs and trees all around so although there are neighbours on one side, the garden is private and secure. There is room to park two cars on the property at the front of the house.
The front door opens directly into the living room which has plenty of sofa seating around the open fireplace and the TV. The picture window has a view to the pool and the sea beyond. The living room leads directly to the kitchen.
The smart kitchen has a red granite counter and breakfast bar with high stools. It has an American-style fridge freezer, a 5-ring ceramic hob, electric oven and microwave. All the modern conveniences that you would expect are here: dishwasher and washing machine, along with the smaller appliances: toaster, kettle, coffee machine and all kitchen utensils. Just off the kitchen is the pantry where the iron and board are also stored.
From the kitchen is a lovely, light, bright conservatory dining room. Sunshine fills this white, airy space and the three-seater sofa is perfectly placed to stretch out on. You can relax and read, or chat in here. A marble topped dining table seating six, takes centre stage. French doors from the conservatory lead directly to the garden patio and a small, square tiled breakfast table seating four.
The double doors from the living room lead to a covered patio which overlooks the garden and pool terrace. Full of potted plants in between the house and garden, it's a wonderful space for just lounging and chilling out. And the final say in holiday fun ... a barbecue and a hot tub are at hand for those starry summer nights.
The pretty garden is lawned, with established trees and shrubs: palm trees, oleanders, lavender, yuccas. The garden overlooks the pool area, set in its own terrace down six steps.
The private swimming pool is a good sized 10 x 5m (2m -1.5m deep), it has a shower at the side and a sofa shaded by a pergola. Pool towels are provided for guests.
Off the living room is double bedroom (1). The decor is feminine with white furniture and crystal light fittings. This bedroom also has a flatscreen TV with DVD player. The en suite bathroom to this bedroom is black and white with contemporary fittings. There is a spacious walk-in shower, wc and basin.
Double bedroom (2) is off the kitchen. It has a picture window with a view to the front of the house. The en suite bathroom has a full bath tub (with shower over), wc and basin.
Double bedroom (3) also leads off from the kitchen. This en suite bathroom has a big, walk-in shower with a pebble effect floor, wc and twin washbasins. The bedroom has French windows to the outside, and although this part of the garden is next to the neighbours', it is hidden from view by a hedge and citrus tree.
The only room upstairs is a double bedroom (4) which has a private, furnished balcony terrace and the most marvellous views across the sea. The en suite bathroom comprises a full bath tub with mixer shower taps, a walk-in shower, wc and basin.
Standing out on the terrace, looking out across palm trees waving in the cooling breeze, bright bougainvillea and the warm shimmer of the terracotta pantiles of the roofs along the coast, you will feel immersed in your Mediterranean summer holiday!
Although the beach location is its major attraction, the house is ideally placed for other activities too. There are top-notch 18-hole golf courses on the doorstep. One owner of the house was a club captain and can assist with organising a round or two. The other owner is a keen artist and would be happy to advise on art workshops. If interested in either, please ask when booking. Equipment for both activities is available for guests to use.
Further afield, there are the pueblos blancos, Casares is the nearest town to your location. The way it clings to the side of the mountain is surely deserving of a photo before you even arrive at the town.
Casares has a lot to offer, not just because it is so pretty and typically Andalucían, but also because it is only 15 kilometres away. Despite being so near to the coast, the town is not 'touristy', drinks and food are reasonably priced for good Spanish fare and there is a very friendly, local vibe. Casares is proud of its reputation as supposedly one of only two towns to have held out against Napoleon's French forces (the other being the mighty Cadíz). Another source of pride is that it was the birthplace in 1885 of Blas Infante Pérez de Varga, who initiated the movement for an autonomous Andalucía.
The house is so easy to get to: Malaga airport is an hour's drive, Gibraltar airport is under an hour away.
