Villa Description

Opulent comfort

If you are looking for superb style and comfort plus the panache which only Marbella can offer, then look no further.

There's nothing "rustic" about this fabulous, luxury villa located in one of the most prestigious districts of Marbella, on the hillside which climbs up from the beach front at Puerto Banus towards the dramatic mountain backdrop behind the town.

If you are looking for superb style and opulent comfort plus the panache which only Marbella can offer, then look no further. This is a superbly designed and beautifully appointed property which offers the perfect setting for a holiday here on the Costa del Sol.

The district of Nueva Andalucía is an attractive, leafy, residential area to the west of the town where, as its name suggests, the villas and apartments are based on traditional architecture and design.

Residents have come from all corners of the globe, attracted by its unique quality and a lifestyle which Marbella has made its very own. It has a truly international atmosphere.

The design team

Creating beautiful homes is the passion of the villa owners. He's Swedish, she's Spanish; together they make quite a team!

Just a few minutes drive from the glitz and glamour of both Marbella and Puerto Banús, here you are also close to the natural beauty of the Sierra de Ronda mountain range.

Creating beautiful homes is the passion of the villa owners. He's Swedish, she's Spanish, and together they make quite a design team!

Towards the top of town, the house is accessed from a quiet little residential street. In a neighbourhood of private villas tucked away behind walled gardens, this one is no exception: electronic security gates open to reveal a wonderful world discretely hidden behind.

Immediately inside the gates is a garage (for two cars) plus an ample forecourt. Wide steps lead up to lawned and very attractive gardens on the terrace above, a pathway leading through to the villa.

An oasis of calm

Towards the top of town, it's as quiet, private and secluded as any house in or around Marbella can possibly be.

Its pale cream walls glint joyfully in the sunshine, contrasting beautifully with the deep blue water glistening in the pool and the colourful reds and yellows of the shrubbery which surround the verdant greens of the lawn and trees. It's a classic Andalusian scene.

Obviously, in a residencial district, there are other villas around and about but the thick hedges which surround its 1,450 m2 of gardens and the abundance of tropical plants and trees create an oasis of calm tranquillity.

It's as quiet, private and secluded as any town house in or around Marbella can possibly be.

A superb location too: the vertical walls and rocky summit of La Concha mountain rises up to more than 1,200 meters immediately behind the Costa del Sol, just one of the dramatic peaks of La Sierra Blanca which lies immediately inland from the coast. Quiet a contrast to the palm fringed, golden beaches just down the hill.

Seamless living

Sliding glass doors on two sides of the living room open to delightful outdoor spaces and the the crystal-clear waters of the beautiful, mosaic-tiled pool.

Outside spaces are lovely with the crystal-clear waters of the beautiful, mosaic-tiled, 10 m x 5 m pool (which can be heated) taking centre stage in the garden surround. Please note that the pool isn't fenced, and it's close to the house, so proper care and attention must be taken with small children.

Along the front of the villa, a covered terrace provides ample space and shade for outdoor dining and lounging areas in front of the pool. Quality sunbeds and a barbecue are close to hand. The terrace and gardens - and the pool - all have attractive night lighting.

Watching the golden sun setting over the Mediterranean is just one of many delights here.

The lawned gardens and the terrace both wrap around the side of the villa as well.

The side terrace has a character all its own. With comfy sofa seating, its sliding glass doors open to the living room so seamless living can be enjoyed to the full, inside and out.

For the cooler winter months (cooler being a relative term here, winters are as mild as mild can be in Marbella) neat, see-through plastic roller blinds can be lowered around the terrace to make this joyous way of living feasible throughout the year.

Top-dollar

In appropriate "Marbella style", furnishings throughout are immaculate and include many antique and exquisite details.

Inside, one enters to a huge, high-ceilinged, light and airy living room. It's delightful.

Furnishings throughout are top-dollar, beautiful rosewood cabinets, a massive (47") state-of-the-art flat screen satellite TV with full Sky subscription, and a lovely, ornate grandfather clock are just some of many antique and exquisite details.

There's no feeling of being cluttered, there's masses of room, plenty of space around the vast leather sofa suite. Light floods in from sliding glass doors on two sides (opening to the outside terraces, both to the side and front of the house).

On the other side, the living room opens to a very convivial dining area, its immaculate and highly polished, circular cherry wood dining table comfortably seating eight. It looks through to a garden backdrop on the other side of the house.

Very pretty

Superbly equipped and very attractive, the "ultra-modern, country-style" kitchen is of the highest quality, a real pleasure.

The kitchen leads off from the living room and, wow, what a kitchen!

Superbly equipped and very attractive, everything is of the highest quality (Bosch, Smeg etc.) and there's not a chef in the land who wouldn't be happy here.

There's lots of marble-topped work space, a large electric oven, five-ring gas hob, microwave, food processor, an American-style fridge / freezer with a drinks and ice dispenser, a second huge fridge, even a TV - to compliment all the usual kitchen bits and pieces.

Not least of the advantages of this splendid home is that it is exactly that - a real home lived in by its owners for most of the year. So it's properly equipped as all real homes should be. All very attractive and entirely in keeping with its luxurious style.

A massive house

The 500 m2 of built and terrace space is beautifully and imaginatively appointed with all mod-cons and furnishings of real quality.

There's air conditioning throughout the ground and first floors (but not on the lower ground floor which is naturally much cooler), high speed WiFi throughout and much, much more.

The kitchen is very pretty too, its "ultra-modern, country-style" a real pleasure to be in. It opens to the front terrace, as well as to the living and dining areas.

From the living room a short corridor leads towards the rear of the house, to a guest cloakroom and a bathroom (with shower over the bath tub) which is shared between the two bedrooms on this floor.

One is twin bedded with double doors which open to the side garden via its own private, furnished terrace; the other, another twin bedded room, with pretty garden views.

Immaculate style

Stairs lead up to the floor above which is entirely taken up by one of the biggest master bedroom suites imaginable!

Stairs lead up to the floor above which is entirely taken up by one of the biggest master bedroom suites imaginable! Needless to say its size is matched by its immaculate style.

The huge bedroom (with, of course, a king-sized bed) opens through double doors to its own railed terrace overlooking the side gardens.

Its walk-in wardrobe is bigger than most bedrooms …

From the enormous and beautifully appointed bathroom alongside, you can enjoy views to the sea from its splendid jacuzzi bath tub.

It's got the lot - double basins, beautiful tilework, a walk-in shower … go on, enjoy yourselves, luxuriate away to your heart's content …

The ultimate, indulgent bathroom!

Sea views

From the beautifully appointed bathroom in the master bedroom suite, you will enjoy views to the sea from its splendid jacuzzi bath tub.

The lower ground floor has a different ambience to the rest of the house. It's mostly, although not completely, below ground level, so its a rather darker and always cool space.

Cleverly created, it has its own entrance to the gardens and can be used as independent accommodation, if so wished, by teenagers or grand parents perhaps, or for staff.

There are two good sized bedrooms, one double, one twin (with the beds pushed together). They enjoy some natural light from high windows and are furnished simply but comfortably enough. They share a bathroom (shower over bathtub).

A laundry room houses the washing machine and dryer as well as an extra freezer.

Also on this lower floor is a games room with a large screen, Wii games console and full surround sound system.

Living the dream

A house of excellent good taste and real style, it's the ultimate "living-the-dream" villa in just-across-town Marbella.

There's a wide selection of films to choose from, stored on hard disk. This room also has a small kitchen area (with a microwave and fridge) so there's no need to go upstairs for interval drinks!

So, all in all, a massive house (there's 500 m2 of built and terrace space), beautifully and imaginatively appointed with absolutely all mod-cons and furnishings of real quality throughout.

All surrounded by pretty, secluded gardens (our photos were taken in late December, for now we will have to leave to your imagination how lovely it all looks in full bloom).

A house of excellent good taste and real style, it's the ultimate "living-the-dream" villa in just-across-town Marbella.

Around and about there's plenty going on "just down the road".

Nueva Andalucia

Attractive and leafy, it's a residential area with a real international atmosphere, its residents attracted by the lifestyle which Marbella has made its very own.

The villa boasts its own fully equipped gymnasium, but for sports enthusiasts looking for more, you can find plenty on offer in Nueva Andalucía with tennis, paddle tennis and another gymnasium. For golfers in particular, the area could not be more ideal. There are several magnificent courses within virtual putting distance, including Las Brisas, Los Naranjos, Aloha Golf and La Dama de Noche, which is floodlit for night time play. All surrounded by stunning scenery and a mountain backdrop.

Nueva Andalucía is also fast becoming known for its international cuisine which ranges from an American deli to the ultimate in cordon bleu.

It boasts one of the most popular commercial centres in the area, Centro Plaza with quality shops, restaurants and bars a plenty, as well as a supermarket, gymnasium and beauty parlour.

Here you can buy everything from your weekly supermarket shop to exquisite gifts. There is also an excellent street market (rastro) held next to the bullring every Saturday morning.

Glitz and glamour

There's something for everyone here - sun and sand, casinos and clubs, shopping and restaurants, a nightlife which buzzes from dusk until dawn.

Five kilometres away, in the centre of Marbella, homes and shops intermingle to create the atmosphere of a small village, rather than a cosmopolitan town. There are, of course, a million restaurants to choose from, you can take a horse and carriage and travel around town in style, relax in one of the shady parks or just take a stroll along Avenida del Mar, arguably one of the most delightful promenades on the Costa.

Marbella has a marvellous micro-climate, many claim it's the best of all, and a coastline to match, some 26 kilometres of sunny beaches bathed by the Mediterranean Sea.

There's something to suit everyone here, with live music, theatre and shows, casinos and clubs, not to mention just about every sporting activity under the sun.

And then there's the ultimate in coastal charisma, Puerto Banús, just three kilometres from the villa.

This is the place to be "seen", yacht-side of course. The rest of us can happily watch this world go by or indulge in a little window shopping at one of the fashion houses or boutiques.

Needless to say, nightlife is buzzing here with alfresco bars, piano clubs and discos which are open dusk until dawn.

Communications are excellent with motorways taking you quickly along the coast, whether east (towards Málaga) or west (to Gibraltar and Tarifa). And spectacular roads climb up into and through the mountains and then on to Ronda and other magical parts of Andalucia's rural hinterland.

A great location, and with class and comfort in abundance throughout the villa and its lovely gardens, this is a wonderful home, tailor-made for a very special holiday.

Around and About

This is an excellent base from which to explore this delightful and very beautiful part of Andalucía.

Excursions

  • Here you are in the very heart of La Costa del Sol with its wealth of sandy beaches, sun, fun and nightlife. Puerto Banus, where the rich like to parade their wealth (there is excellent shopping too) is just down the hill, 3 km from the villa. More folksy (by comparrison), Marbella with its beautiful old town (the Casco Antigua) is just a little further.
  • There's plenty of glitz and glamour in Marbella too, but it also has a more down to earth side, an air of individuality which can best be appreciated by exploring the honeycomb of narrow streets in the very pretty old part of town. Homes and shops intermingle to create the atmosphere of a small village.
  • There are, of course, mile upon mile of beautiful beaches, marinas, restaurants, bars, night life, every sporting activity imaginable ...
  • It is Southern Spain's answer to St Tropez.
  • Fabulous nature isn't far away either. Immeadiately behind the town, the magnificent mountain known as "La Concha" is part of a range that extends right across the skyline. Within minutes you can be up in the hills with wonderful vistas across the sea.
  • Take the road to Ronda - always worth visiting anyway - which traverses the rugged, almost eerie mountains of La Sierra de las Nieves. There are a plethora of beautiful white villages and hilltop towns to explore and enjoy in the magnificent countryside of the Serranía de Ronda – Gaucín, Casares and Genalguacil to name just a few.
  • Other National Parks not so far away include the fabulous Los Alcornocales Natural Park and, just to the north of Ronda, the Grazalema National Park, one of the most beautiful tracks of mountain anywhere in Europe. Jagged peaks, gorges, chasms, faults and caves, underground rivers and deep canyons are interspersed, here and there, by some of the prettiest villages in Spain, Grazalema, Zahara, Setenil and the other famous "pueblos blancos".
  • Beyond lies Sevilla (2½ hours). It is impossible not to be captivated by its exuberant atmosphere: stylish, confident, ancient and proud, yet also convivial, intimate and fun-loving. If you don't know what alegría means, Sevilla is the place to learn!
  • If you head west along the coast there is another magical mystery tour of some of Spain's best attractions. Which doesn't include Gibraltar, in our opinion, although plenty want to visit for its history, VAT free shops … and fish & chips. It's an easy 1¼ hours drive from here.
  • Tarifa on the southernmost point of Spain is also an 1¼ hrs away. Looking directly across the Straits of Gibraltar to Morocco, Africa is so close you feel that you can almost touch it! Talking of which, the fast boat from Tarifa to Tangiers in Morocco takes just 35 minutes, so you can be exploring the local souks in just a few hours. Fascinating and colourful, it really is a different world.
  • Beyond Tarifa lies mile upon mile of magnificent white beaches on Spain's Atlantic coast, La Costa de la Luz.
  • Spain's unique sherry wine region (Jerez and Sanlúcar), is well worth a visit, enhanced no doubt by stopping at one or two of the famous bodegas along the way! Jerez de la Frontera is 2 hours.
  • Cádiz (2¼ hours) continues to evoke the romance, intrigue and mystery of centuries of trade (some legal, some not so) between Europe, Africa and the Americas.
  • Córdoba and Granada are both a couple of hours drive from here.

Activities

  • Sports enthusiasts can find plenty on offer in Nueva Andalucía itself - tennis, paddle tennis and a gymnasium. For golfers in particular, the area could not be more ideal. There are several magnificent courses within virtual putting distance, including Las Brisas, Los Naranjos, Aloha Golf and La Dama de Noche, which is floodlit for night time play.
  • Here you are in the heart of the "Costa del Golf" with at least 25 top quality golf courses (including Finca Cortesin, Valderrama, Sotogrande, and San Roque) all within half an hour's drive.
  • On the coast there’s every beach pursuit imaginable, from sailing and windsurfing, diving and snorkelling to whale and dolphin watching.
