Villa Description
This attractive, two bedroomed corner house in the classic white village of Gaucín enjoys good views across some of Andalucìa's most wonderful countryside. Because prices vary depending on the number in your party, it is a good option either for a small family or for a couple on their own.
It's a first and second floor apartment (there is a garage underneath but it doesn't belong to the house), accessed by a short flight of stairs from the quiet street below.
One enters directly into the living room / dining room / open plan kitchen. With windows on three sides, it's an attractive room, light and sunny. Wooden beamed ceilings and terracotta floor tiles give it that unmistakable Andaluz ambience.
A wood burning stove and electric wall heaters make it suitable for winter holidays, too.
French windows open to two terraces, a smaller one which is covered, a good spot for eating out on long summer nights, and a larger open terrace which enjoys the view over village roof tops to the hills and valleys all around.
And what a wonderful view it is! Overlooking the valley of the Rio Genal far below, the mountains on either side open up to reveal the Mediterranean, the Rock of Gibraltar and the Rif Mountains of Morocco beyond the shimmering sea.
All around, the majestic scenery of the Serranía de Ronda provides brilliant brush strokes of colour and contrast. It's a view which can be enjoyed for ever.
The two bedrooms (one double and one twin) and the bathroom are upstairs. The double room has windows on both sides.
Being in the village (albeit in a quiet corner), it's easy to stroll out to one of the restaurants here, perhaps to enjoy a tapa or two before dinner.
Gaucín is one of the classic white villages of Spain and has just about all the facilities you will need - small shops, a chemist, banks and, of course, several bars and restaurants.
And, as everywhere in Andalucía, more than its fair share of fiestas, traditional Saints days and processions, each an excuse for merrymaking and dancing.
There's plenty to do close at hand quite apart from enjoying the village and its wonderful views: this part of Andalucia is a paradise for walking, exploring, riding and bird watching. There is beautiful countryside in every direction.
It is also an ideal base for day trips to towns like Ronda, Jerez, Cádiz and Sevilla. There are delightful little villages to explore, Mediterranean beaches are half an hour's drive away; the Atlantic coast with its fine white sand and famous wind surfing is one and a half hours drive.
There is no swimming pool at the house but in mid-summer the municipal pool (and tennis courts) are among the most immaculately kept in southern Spain.
Quite simply, here you will enjoy all that is good in one of the great Spanish rural holiday destinations.
