Review Icon"Thank you for an absolutely wonderful fortnight at ZC75. We have all had a fantastic holiday and feel very sad to be leaving. Thank you Lawrence for all your help and advice. We loved the villa and have really appreciated the little luxurious – the Floris toiletries and lovely bed linen which have made it feel extra special. We have enjoyed the garden and have all loved the pool especially our two boys who say it has been paradise!! Our favourite meal for us was at El Muelle De Arriate. It was so good we went back again for lunch on our last day! We also had a nice meal at Molino del Santo in Benaojan and another at De Locas Tapas in Ronda. We would love to return one day."

Review Icon"We have had a fantastic week in this beautiful clean villa in a quiet environment with lots of privacy!! Special thanks to the team for the excellent service (never seen before!!). Everything was just PERFECT!!! Every year we take a week or two but this time was significantly better – (quality villa/pool/service/towels/welcome pack/breakfast/garden etc. too much to list!! Thanks for everything and please continue in the same way.""

Review Icon"We are just reflecting on our second stay at ZC75, this time for two weeks. The villa is a fabulous retreat in a most pleasant and interesting setting. We saw woodpeckers in the morning and keep your eyes open while poolside for an eagle or two catching the thermals in the late afternoon. All in all a great holiday, great villa and marvellous part of the world. "

Villa Description

Away from the hustle and bustle

"The villa was well laid out and spacious for our family of four so we could quickly relax in the beautiful surroundings".

Accessed by a quiet country lane, this lovely villa is just ten minutes west of Ronda in the beautiful Llano de la Cruz valley.

To one side are spectacular views of the Sierra de Ronda and to the other a beautiful vista of fertile, undulating farmland. It's a perfect holiday home for a small family or for two couples travelling together.

One of three quality villas on a wonderful, 3½ acre countryside estate, this is, like the others, completely private and self-contained with its own entrance, driveway, gardens and swimming pool. In such pretty surroundings, a relaxing holiday is never going to be a problem here!

Features of the estate include extensive landscaped gardens, mature orchards of olive and citrus, walnut and almond, quince and medlar, as well as a beautifully maintained garden surrounding each villa. There is also a vegetable garden, fish pond and a fountain.

A wonderful stay

"I cannot say enough nice things about our holiday experience at the villa. It was easily the best part of our trip to Spain".

Apart from the very occasional passing of a small-gauge railway which runs close by, there's nothing here to disturb the countryside peace and harmony.

Completely hidden by graceful trees, foliage and fencing, the villa looks out onto its own landscaped, lawned garden. This is a real delight, with mature olive trees and colourful shrubs providing beautiful contrast to the extensive lawn.

A pretty, covered terrace runs the length of the house looking out to the garden and to the lovely 8 m x 4 m swimming pool at its far end.

Soaking up the Mediterranean sunshine, taking a refreshing dip or two in the pool, reading a book under the dappled shade of an old olive tree, lounging on the terrace with a gin and tonic close to hand, this is what a holiday is all about!

An absolute delight

"The warm, homely atmosphere set in such tranquil settings was an absolute delight. We can thoroughly recommend the villa in every way".

Inside, the villa is spacious and tastefully decorated. All on one level, the sitting room / diner is a large, light and airy space, attractively furnished, with views across the garden to the pool. French doors open to the terrace.

The house has electric night storage radiators and an open fireplace to keep you snug in winter; all rooms have overhead fans to keep you cool in summer.

Other facilities include a TV (for DVD playback), CD/Radio and an extensive DVD library.

The well proportioned, fully fitted kitchen is well equipped with a four hob burner, electric oven, microwave and washing machine.

The two large bedrooms (one double and one twin bedded) each have their own en-suite shower room. They are thoughtfully furnished and, with their duvets and electric blankets, each offers warmth as well as comfort.

We had a fantastic time

"We have had some tremendous vacations but I'm not sure we've had any better than this one. A very special week".

Just ten minutes from this haven of rural peace and tranquillity, Ronda, known to locals as the "The City of Dreams" has a fascinating history and a character to match.

An ancient hill town, it straddles the almost vertical, extraordinary Tajo Gorge which plunges to a depth of more than 150 metres.

The oldest part of the town, the original citadel fortress of the Moors, lies to the east of gorge, a labyrinth of winding streets with ancient mansion houses, churches and enchanting little squares. There are breathtaking vistas from many of the bars and restaurants out across the gorge to the surrounding mountains.

The newer part of the town began to grow when the famous bridge was finally completed at the end of the 19th century. This is a bustling area of small shops, bars and restaurants and the site of Andalucia's most famous bullring.

Perfect

"The house was perfect and the garden had an ideal mix of sun and dappled shade. All is maintained beautifully and generously equipped. We would highly recommend this villa".

To the east of the town is the pristine Sierra de la Nieves National Park, recently declared a Unesco Biosphere Reserve, and to the west is the Grazalema National Park, a really beautiful mountainous area, home to some of the most diverse flora and fauna in Spain. A series of pretty, traditional pueblos blancos are all within easy driving distance. The walking and bird watching here are amongst the best in Europe.

So, there's plenty to do around and about. Whether you want to explore the wonderful nature, breathtaking vistas and first class hiking of the National Parks, discover the culture and traditions of historic Ronda, explore the enchanting villages or maybe venturing further, to Sevilla or the coastal resorts of Puerto Banus, San Pedro and Marbella, there's something for everyone.

Wherever you go, you will delight in returning to the peace and tranquillity which surrounds this lovely holiday villa.

For two or more families wishing to holiday together but wanting a degree of independence from one another, the property can also be rented in conjunction with one of the other two villas on the estate.

Around and About

This is an excellent base from which to explore this delightful and very beautiful part of Andalucía.

Excursions

  • For trips out, you are spoilt for choice. Hemingway's favourite town in all Spain, Ronda, with its extraordinary gorge dividing the old and new quarters, is just 15 minutes away. With its mansion houses, quaint narrow streets, museums and art galleries and Spain's oldest bullring, it is well worth visiting.
  • La Costa del Sol with its wealth of sandy beaches, sun, fun and nightlife is an hour further south from Ronda. It's a very spectacular trip, too, crossing up and over the Sierra de las Nieves before descending to glitzy, glamorous Marbella and a very different world!
  • Here you are on the doorstep of the Grazalema National Park, one of the most beautiful tracks of mountain anywhere in Europe. Jagged peaks, gorges, chasms, faults and caves, underground rivers and deep canyons are interspersed, here and there, by some of the prettiest villages in Spain - Grazalema, Zahara, Setenil and the other famous "pueblos blancos".
  • On the wide, blue waters of the Embalse de Zahara (it's a reservoir but you would never know), you can swim or just enjoy the beautiful views all around from one of the little bars which open up in summer on the lake shore.
  • Take the dramatic little mountain road from Zahara which climbs high into the mountains and on to Grazalema. From here you can head west, crossing right over the magnificent sierras, thickly forested with cork oak and Spanish fir, to Arcos de la Frontera on the other side.
  • For something completely different, Sevilla takes less than 2 hours. It is impossible not to be captivated by its exuberant atmosphere: stylish, confident, ancient and proud, yet also convivial, intimate and fun-loving. If you don't know what alegría means, Sevilla is the place to learn!
  • Spain's unique sherry wine region (Jerez and Sanlúcar), is well worth a visit, enhanced no doubt by stopping at one or two of the famous bodegas along the way! Jerez de la Frontera is 2 hours.
  • Cádiz (2¼ hours) continues to evoke the romance, intrigue and mystery of centuries of trade (some legal, some not so) between Europe, Africa and the Americas.
  • Beyond lie mile upon mile of magnificent white beaches on Spain's Atlantic coast, La Costa de la Luz.
  • Córdoba and Granada are both 2½ hours drive from here.

Activities

  • There are few better places in Europe than the Sierra de Grazalema to enjoy walking and hiking. We recommend "Walking in Andalucía" by Guy Hunter-Watts which includes six fabulous walks in the nearby countryside. The wonderful mountain terrain is equally facinating for twitchers, especially for spotting the big raptors. There are various guide companies in Ronda offering everything from one day caving adventures to hiking and bicycling trips.
  • The adventurous may want to try their hand at hang gliding or paragliding from Sierra de Lijar, just up the road at Algodonales. The village recently staged the World Paragliding Championships and is home to a number of paragliding schools with courses for beginners as well as tandem flights.
  • Horse trekking can be arranged at local stables.
  • Bicycle hire is easily arranged in Ronda. There are excellent cycle ways in the area including the Via Verde which runs along an abandoned railway line as well as far more challenging tracks for mountain biking.
  • Different water sports are on offer on the Zahara lake. Swimming is also possible at a number of secluded coves along the lakeside.
  • There is no more thrilling way of viewing the Ronda mountains than from a balloon. End your once-in-a-lifetime flight with a champagne breakfast overlooking Ronda’s old town.
