Review Icon"We had a fantastic time at ZC94. Lovely villa itself and amazing views. Nice to have such luxuries like the wine cellar and indoor pool and jacuzzi. We had fun exploring the area ( even though Mummy Humphries not keen on cliff roads and steep drops). Gaucin has a nice climb up to the castle and Ronda has an original bull ring and lovely photo opportunities. Enjoyed many raucous games of table tennis and had a fantastic tapas/paella meal cooked in the villa by Sara."

Review Icon"This was the best holiday we have ever had because the villa is just perfect. It is beautifully presented with superb facilities and lots of space. The outside terrace is wonderful and the 'mirador' is a heavenly place to sit and relax on hot evenings and look out across the valley to the sea. It is in the heart of the countryside and is incredibly peaceful and relaxing and yet not far from beautiful Ronda or the coast. The villa has a stunning outside pool and bar and an amazing indoor lap pool, sauna and spa pool. All the bedrooms/bathrooms are top class and the beds themselves so comfortable. We were looked after so well. This was a real find and we highly recommend it - you will not be disappointed. We will definitely return as soon as we can."

Villa Description

The ultimate escape

The villa has to be seen to be believed. No expense has been spared in its renovation and the result is … stunning.

If you want to enjoy "the good life" in sumptuous, unabashed luxury and very grand style, this countryside villa of immense charm and beauty is the answer to your dreams.

Situated in rolling hillsides, forested with mature oaks, carobs and olive trees, seven kilometres from the picturesque village of Gaucín, it combines the finest modern comforts with inherent Spanish charm.

Totally private, set on its own 24 acre estate with spectacular, south-facing views down to the Mediterranean Sea, this is the ultimate year-round escape.

No expense has been spared in its renovation and the result is … stunning. Exquisite furnishings, delightful gardens, a fabulous indoor spa area (with heated pool, jacuzzi and sauna), a beautiful outdoor pool and a variety of lovely terraces are just some of the magnificent delights to enjoy here.

Elegance, grace and class

Quality furnishings and beautiful works of art create a calm and relaxing, old-time Spanish "hacienda" feel.

The villa really has to be seen to be believed. It's huge, almost 900 m2. Arranged mostly on one floor, differing levels add interest in keeping with its Moorish traditions.

At the centre of the house, the large and very comfortable living room exudes charm and exquisite good taste. A very relaxing room with its double height ceiling and exposed wooden beams, it has a wood burning stove at one end for those cooler winter evenings (there is also a warm air heating system which operates throughout the villa).

Quality furnishings and beautiful works of art create a calm and relaxing, old-time Spanish "hacienda" feel. Soft ochre walls and discreet lighting enhance the elegance, grace and class of it all. The sound system is provided by Yamaha. Arched double doors open to terraces on either side.

A separate library / TV room features a massive 50" flat-screen satellite TV and DVD player discreetly hidden from view in a bookcase with retractable doors. There is an Xbox 360 Kinetic play station connected to the TV for all the family to enjoy, as well as a large selection of DVD's and CD's to choose from. High speed internet connection too, so it's easy to keep in touch with the outside world if you need to.

A palatial home

A fabulous indoor spa area (with heated pool, jacuzzi and sauna) and a beautiful outdoor pool are just some of the magnificent delights to enjoy here.

A few steps up from the living room takes you to a beautifully appointed dining area with the kitchen just beyond. But you may prefer to eat al fresco - the terraced dining area is another very elegant space which features a glass ceiling … here you will dine under the stars! And, just to complete a perfect scene, it also looks out to floodlit gardens.

As you would expect in such a palatial home, the modern kitchen is full of top-of-the-range appliances - a five ring gas hob, Lacanche stove, a double oven and combination oven/microwave as well, a fridge/freezer with an ice maker, dishwasher, toaster, coffee machine et al.

And, something to gladden the heart of anyone with aspirations to rustle up something a bit special, there is a lovely herb garden just outside.

Beautifully appointed

The four bedroom suites are individually designed and each has its own luxury en-suite bathroom. They all open to terraces outside.

There is a wall mounted TV in the kitchen so if you want to catch up with the morning news over breakfast, then this is the place to do it.

If, on occasion, you would like other meals to be organised for you, this can also be arranged (please ask for details).

The washing machine and tumble dryer are located in a separate laundry room.

Each of the four bedroom suites has been individually designed and each has its own en-suite bathroom/shower room.

The huge master bedroom is housed in the main tower on two levels. Features include a king size four poster bed, an open fireplace, TV and DVD/CD player. Views from here, down the valley to the coast are spectacular. The en-suite bathroom includes a luxurious inset jacuzzi bath and walk-in shower. Its vast dressing room, on the floor below, can be used as an extra single bedroom if clients wish.

A further three en-suite bedrooms are located within the house, equally attractive and beautifully appointed. They all open to terraces outside. Two are double bedded and one has twin beds.

All of the bedrooms have fans and mosquito blinds. There is an air cooling/warming system throughout the villa too. Children of any age are very welcome and well catered for - there are two cots, two high chairs, a child's size bed, baby bath and sterilizer available on request.

Outdoors is pretty good, too!

Enjoy the sunshine from mid-morning to night or retreat to the "Mirador", an ideal spot for that all important afternoon siesta.

And it just keeps on getting better and better … the west wing has been converted into a stunning indoor spa area, with a 13 metre heated swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna. Complete with shower facilities and its own audio system, this is a fabulous space - whether you seek invigorating exercise or just wish to relax and refresh.

Outdoors is pretty good too! The crystal clear waters of the irresistible 10 metre long outdoor pool (with underwater lighting) enjoy sunshine from mid-morning to night. Views extend far and wide. Gentle steps lead in at the shallow end.

The pool wraps itself around the "Mirador", which, as its name suggests, is the perfect place to enjoy the amazing views and spectacular sunsets. Comfortably seating ten, here you can chill with friends and family, read a book or sip a sundowner. It's an ideal spot for that all important afternoon siesta too, as the two sofas double up as day beds.

A handy sundowner

Conveniently located alongside the glass-covered outdoor dining terrace, the poolside bar is kept well stocked for you.

A few steps away is the outside bar and barbecue area, located conveniently alongside the glass-covered outdoor dining terrace. The bar is kept well stocked for you (drinks are charged at only a fraction more than cost price).

This area also has a log burner, fridge and freezer, CD player, shower room and a space heater to keep you warm on cool winter evenings.

Seven kilometres from the village of Gaucín, the hillside estate is accessed by a farm track (the steeper parts are concreted making for an easy 1.4 km drive) which leads off from the country road to Colmenar. This leads up to the large forecourt parking area, with space for ten cars (there is also a three car garage as well).

Peace and tranquillity

Totally private, set on its own 24 acre estate with nothing but glorious nature all around, the south-facing views are spectacular.

Some distance away from the villa is a separate, fully self-contained staff casita, located on the far side of the impressive entrance archway to the property. This is where the English/Spanish speaking couple live who act as the house managers. They will not intrude upon your holiday, quite the opposite, as they are here to assist and make for an enjoyable and smooth running stay.

If requested, (for a supplement) they will also provide baby sitting services.

They can also organise other meals such as light lunches or evening meals on request, as well barbecue meals or paella for you to cook yourself.

"In a word … astounding"

"Fantastic location, fabulous views, family friendly, an absolutely stunning home. We have had a truly wonderful time". Just one of many five star reviews.

Gaucín is a charming mountain village with sweeping views to Gibraltar and the Rif mountains of North Africa. There is a good selection of bars and restaurants serving local fare as well as international cuisine. The centre of the village is a tangle of narrow streets and was once a refuge for brandy and tobacco smugglers who traveled through the surrounding hills.

Standing high above the village are the remains of its old Moorish castle, Castillo del Aguila (the Eagle's Castle).

Riding stables just outside the village also offer guided walks, treks, nature trails and bird watching expeditions.

Sandy beaches are less than 45 minutes away at Sabinillas, and a plethora of superb golf courses are all less than an hour away. For the more energetic, sailing and windsurfing at Tarifa is a 60 minute drive. Marbella with its shops, restaurants and night life is also just an hour away.

Perhaps you will be tempted to try a taste of Morocco - the fast boat from Tarifa to Tangiers takes just 40 minutes. Great fun and a completely different world …

Wherever you go, whatever you do, you will happily return to this truly remarkable home. Here, in the rolling hillsides of Andalucía you will enjoy peace and tranquility in exclusive and luxurious comfort. Live the dream!

  • Gibraltar, steeped in history, VAT free shops … and plenty of fish & chips is 1¼ hours away.
  • Tarifa on the southernmost point of Spain is 1½ hours from here. Looking directly across the Straits of Gibraltar to Morocco, Africa is so close you feel that you can almost touch it!
  • Beyond lie mile upon mile of magnificent white beaches on Spain's Atlantic coast, La Costa de la Luz.
  • A taste of Morocco perhaps? The fast boat from Tarifa to Tangiers takes 35 minutes, so you can be exploring the local souks in just a few hours. Fascinating and colourful, it really is a different world.
  • Spain's unique sherry wine region (Jerez and Sanlúcar), is well worth a visit, enhanced no doubt by stopping at one or two of the famous bodegas along the way! Jerez de la Frontera is 2 hours.
  • Cádiz (2¼ hours) continues to evoke the romance, intrigue and mystery of centuries of trade (some legal, some not so) between Europe, Africa and the Americas.
  • One of Europe's most important wetland reserves and bird sanctuaries, the Doñana National Park, is a popular attraction for nature lovers (4 hours). Its enormous variety of bird species include everything from flamingos to imperial eagles.

  • Sevilla takes 2½ hours. It is impossible not to be captivated by its exuberant atmosphere: stylish, confident, ancient and proud, yet also convivial, intimate and fun-loving. If you don't know what alegría means, Sevilla is the place to learn!
  • The fantastic railway between Algeciras on the coast and Ronda, to the north, stops at the little pueblo of Colmenar (20 minutes away). One of Europe’s great short railway journeys, running through landscapes which offer constantly plunging and spectacular views, this is a remarkable and wonderful way to see some of Andalucía's best and most dramatic countryside.
  • There are a plethora of beautiful white villages and hilltop towns to explore and enjoy in the magnificent countryside of the Serranía de Ronda – Jimena de la Frontera, Casares and Genalguacil to name but a few.
  • Nearby National Parks include the fabulous Los Alcornocales Natural Park and the Grazalema National Park, one of the most beautiful tracks of mountain anywhere in Europe. Jagged peaks, gorges, chasms, faults and caves, underground rivers and deep canyons are interspersed, here and there, by some of the prettiest villages in Spain, Grazalema, Zahara, Setenil and the other famous "pueblos blancos".
  • Córdoba and Granada are both 3 hours drive from here
