Review Icon"Jan from Germany Ein traumhaftes Haus, bis ins letzte Detail absolut perfekt.

Review Icon"I had the immense privilege to stay in Krisztina’s absolutely wonderful Villa for 10 days in August 2018. We were stunned by the beauty of this property and its splendid and well-kept tropical gardens and superb pool. Although it was early August, thanks to the fact that the property is nestled on top of a hill only 20 min away from Malaga, we did not suffer at all from the heat as there was always a nice breeze … The house comprises of 5 tastefully decorated bedrooms with double beds and all with their own absolutely beautiful private bathrooms … They all had very nice bed linen and brand-new towels… very soft and clean. I cannot even begin to tell you how much kitchen utensils were at our disposal such as dozens of glasses, plates and cutler for an army There was absolutely everything once could dream of in the villa including nice touches such as a fridge full of food upon arrival, bottles of wine and fresh vegetables and fruits from their own private orchard! I have never seen such a beautiful and vast property in my entire life… The gardens were absolutely amazingly beautiful and manicured by their own private gardener… I absolutely recommend this property and I will make sure we come back again in the future! I really wish you lots of reservations in the near future and I wish to congratulate you on building such a STUNNING property! Thanks ever so much for letting you share a piece of your paradise… All the best, Esteban!"

Villa Description

Only half an hour away from Malaga Airport and the coast

Absolutely stunning location nestled at the the foot of Sierra de Mijas, in close proximity to the white washed town of Alhaurin el Grande

Finca Florita is located just outside Alhaurin el Grande, an unspoilt white-washed Andalusian village that offers all essential shopping, a choice of restaurants as well as other amenities. The Moors named it “Alhaurín”, meaning “Garden of Allah”, as they felt this spot was blessed by the gods: fertile, temperate, and surrounded by hills. Fuengirola is the closest larger town with beaches, water sports, shopping centres whilst Malaga, Marbella and Puerto Banus with luxury shopping, fine dining and active night life can all be reached within half an hour by car.

The property was fully refurbished in a boutique hotel style, accommodating up to 12 people in 5 individually themed rooms. We chose the name “florita”, “small flower” in Spanish, as the finca’s one hectare of well-maintained gardens contain a large variety of flowers, fruit and herbs throughout the year. In the upper garden, the pool, a large sun terrace, and the shady Moroccan fountain area invite to relax whilst the lower garden, a terraced orchard, features more than 100 mature fruit trees, flowering plants and a playground.

Mountain & forest views with a boutique hotel vibe

This villa is a hidden oasis of tropical gardens and fruit trees

The villa makes a perfect choice if you’re in search of a designer property with open plan communal areas and a huge amount of land to enjoy with friends and family or in which to find some peace for yourself. With an indoor lounge and kitchen area with folding doors onto the tropical garden, plus three outdoor terraces with views into the orchard and up to the mountains, this is the perfect place to come and unwind and relax in peace and tranquillity.

Open plan living space and three outdoor terraces to choose from

Take advantage of the outdoor dining area and BBQ; relax during the day on the sun terrace with a large protective shade sail and enjoy a chilled glass of wine on the moon terrace in the evening watching the sun set.

Stepping inside the house through a beautiful, double wooden door you will feel like you are stepping into a chic, boutique villa that you’d expect to find in ‘cool’ Ibiza. The brushed concrete floor throughout is warm in winter and cool in summer. The villa was beautifully designed by an interior designer making most of the views and the light and was done so well the villa appeared on the front of a number of magazines. The furniture and the soft furnishings were chosen for ultimate comfort and relaxation.

Unforgettable gardens, rest and well-being all around..

"It’s a perfect spot for the whole family, or a group of friends looking for a beautiful place ideal for entertaining…"

Leading off from the entrance area with hanging rattan chairs and floor to ceiling window allowing views across to the forest, you’ll find a generously proportioned sitting room and open plan, fully equipped kitchen. Throughout the property the walls are painted white and decorated with beautiful original artwork and artefacts and the furniture has been selected for comfort and style. To the end of the lounge are bi-folding doors that stretch across the full length of the property, so that once opened, the inside and outside living areas become one. From here you have views over the pool and the tropical upper garden.

For the winter months, there is a top of the range log burning stove for cosy evenings in. The lounge also comes equipped with a projector screen, portable projector and stand, a sonos sound system and a 40 inch plasma TV.

To the opposite direction than the lounge and kitchen diner, there is access to three double bedrooms, two on the ground floor both with ensuite bathrooms and the master bedroom up the stairway, which spreads across the length of the house and includes an ensuite bathroom with bath, an office and views out across the forest and the mountains. Each bedroom is individually themed and named with matching bedding and towels. The ground floor rooms are the Sahara and Moroccan rooms and the master bedroom is the Forest room.

Bedrooms and bathrooms fit for an interior magazine…

"Each bedroom is its own unique experience... you can’t go wrong!"

Outside of the house and down a centre piece stairway crowned with an impressive agave plant, are two additional bedrooms; the Cave room and the Snug. Like the main house, both these rooms are double glazed with wooden shutters, are unique by design and have ensuite bathrooms. Both also have spectacular views out onto the orchard and forest below. The Cave room has a King size bed and a sofa bed. All the five bedrooms have a wardrobe and the entire property is fitted with air conditioning units for the summer heat.

A stunning garden with a tropical feel…

This house is perfect, we had the most fantastic time – exploring the orchard and picking fruit from the trees

The upper garden consists of a number of palm trees and beautiful Mediterranean flowers that surround the pool and hammock area and provide a feel of relaxation and tranquillity.

The large wooden sun terrace has ample space for sun loungers, chairs, Moroccan lanterns and large sun mattresses under a fabric sail allowing the air to move and providing shade. The fabric sail allowing the air to move and providing shade. The best place to have a siesta after a swim.

The moon terrace is an outside seating area in Moroccan style with large cushions, Moroccan lanterns and tables; it is the best place to have a drink after dinner, watch the sunset and look out for shooting stars.

The lower garden, a terraced orchard of 1 hectare in size, offers endless opportunity for activities and relaxation, whether you decide to pick fruits, avocados or nuts, walk in the stream, play badminton or table tennis, or just enjoy the unspoilt nature of the valley. The orchard contains more than 100 mature fruit trees, including oranges, mandarins, pomelos, lemons, pomegranates, avocados, figs, walnuts, nisperos, khakis, raspberries, blackberries etc. Please check if you want to know more about which fruits are in season when you arrive..

The outside dining provides seating for 10-12 people at the large hardwood table under a natural cane pergola. The gas barbecue next to the dining area can be used for preparing the meal.

Around and About

This is an excellent base from which to explore this delightful and very beautiful part of Andalucía.

Excursions

  • Nature lovers will be drawn here by the fact that the property is located on the southern slopes of El Torcal, a magnificent 1,100 hectare National Park of massive, Mars-like mountains of eroded rock formations. Here the imagination plays tricks as giants, monsters and castles seem to appear before your eyes.
  • Unique in Europe, this dreamy, surrealistic landscape has inspired generations of artists and film makers as well as climbers, walkers and nature lovers. Rare birds of prey, Spanish ibex and wild orchids are just some of the attractions. The sunsets are a bit special too.
  • To the south-west lies an area of mountains, pine and eucalyptus forests cut by wide river valleys, of which the Río Guadalhorce is the most well known, a land of small farms, fertile fields and rural villages. This is the region known as El Chorro and the Lake District of Ardales.
  • The scenery in the higher reaches of the valley, just to the north of Álora, is dramatic. Garganta del Chorro is a huge natural gorge, 180 metres high, three kilometres long, spanned by an ancient iron bridge. It offers some very challenging rock climbing, walking and hang-gliding and is a favourite place for the extreme sport set.
  • A dam at the head of the gorge has created Andalucía's very own Lake District, three turquoise blue lakes bordered by pine forests. This is an altogether more tranquil retreat, a place to swim, fish and canoe or just to picnic by the lake shore or enjoy a glass of wine and a bite to eat at a local taverna.
  • Wonderful terrain for walkers, too, with shaded paths through oak forests and olive groves and gentler, scenic routes along the shores of the lakes.
  • To the north west of Antequera, the flat agricultural lands yield up to Andalucia's largest natural lake, Laguna de Fuente de Piedra, also know as "The Pink Lagoon" because it is the only inland breeding ground of pink flamingos outside of Africa.
  • To the south and west of Antequera, La Sierra de las Nives (literally, the mountains of the snows) is, some would argue, the most beautiful National Park in all Andalucía. It is certainly one of Spain's richest natural enclaves, now protected by UNESCO with Biosphere Reserve status.
  • It's most prized treasure is the Spanish fir tree, an almost extinct relic of the Ice Age. It is also famous for its potholes, including the third deepest in the world, a mere 1,098 metres! Many are still to be explored.
  • Immediately beyond Colmenar, take the wonderful road through Las Montes de Málaga which winds through the forested hillsides down to the coast. Remote and peaceful, it's a gentle, hilly area criss-crossed by streams which have carved small valleys, extensively planted with pine trees and ancient Mediterranean species too, holm oak, corks and carib trees, making it an ideal habitat for the chameleons and other protected species of wildlife and birds of prey which reside here. The lovely scenery, and some great views of the city and the Mediterranean Sea below, can also be enjoyed on any one of numerous walking routes through the Park.
  • For "civilisation" look no further than Antequera, a very pretty town with an almost medieval air and a history to match. It's so much more than just another sleepy, sun-soaked 'pueblo' of Southern Spain.
  • For seaside destinations you are spoiled for choice. To the east of Málaga there's Torre del Mar, still very Spanish in character, and Nerja a little further along the coast offering 16 kilometres of beaches with powdery sand and sparkling clear water.
  • To the west of Málaga, try the resort towns of Estepona and Marbella. Estepona is a little quieter than most of the Mediterranean resorts and still retains some of its old, fishing village character. The same cannot be said of Marbella, but if you want to check out what the beautiful people are doing, with their designer shops and jet-set marinas, or just enjoy the sparkling sun, sand and sea, this is the place to be.
  • Granada is, of course, a must-see city. Soaring high above is the spectacular back drop of the snow-covered Sierra Nevada mountains. And what a city lies below, a city of classical beauty, the jewel in the Spanish Crown.
  • You are not far from the motorway network which links Sevilla, Málaga, Granada and Córdoba so all the great cities of Andalucía are easy to get to from here. Ronda too.
  • The world is your oyster!

Activities

  • An extra offered at this property is the opportunity to make use of the facilities of an associated spa hotel some five minutes' drive away. By paying for what you wish, as if you were a hotel guest, you can play tennis, arrange horse riding and enjoy the spa baths and treatments. They sometimes have bicycles for hire, too.
  • Horse riding is available nearby. For walkers and all nature lovers you have some of the most varied and beautiful terrain in all Europe on your doorstep. See above.
  • Very challenging rock climbing, walking, hang-gliding and other extreme sports are available at El Chorro.
  • For golf enthusiasts, many speak very highly of the course at Antequera (just 30 to 40 minutes away).
  • All major water sports are also available on the Costa del Sol including water skiing, scuba diving, snorkelling and sailing.
