This attractive, white holiday villa with its inviting, floodlit pool is light, relaxing and fitted to a good standard ...
"David and I spent a lovely week staying at Casa Simon. Just what we needed a relaxing break away in such a beautiful setting. Peace and quiet with no specific agenda. The wether was glorious and we enjoyed the pool, bars and restaurants as well as having some great barbecues Plus you have some great reading material. "Driving over Lemons" - Fab! Thank you David and Jen. Loved it all"
"Jenny and David wherever We holiday usually a Mediterranean villa we’ve always tried to compromise on destination. I David like views, wildlife and a bit of privacy The girls like sun, pool and nearby towns. Casa Simone has served it up in spades. Probably the nicest best kitted out and location friendly villa we have ever had the privilege to visit. So thank you very much. We have been around here before but never to Competa so this was to be a relaxing time, no big trips, just local walking lazing and food. It has been great. Completed some local walks using your maps and publications. I loved the view from Puerto del Colledo; worth the hike Nice. To see Short Toed and Booted Eagles every day plus plenty of Bee Eaters. The wasps were all family friendly. Managed to get 6 Ghekos around the light in the evening, picking off the poor old moths while we were enjoying cards and dominoes. While having a lovely drink in a great setting and climate. We managed to time our visit with the great European heatwave and it was hot! The pool was perfect and the garden lovely making the weather bearable. Like many others it seems El Pilon is our favourite restaurant and we go there tonight for our last evening. Every course was a delight. We are at the other square restaurants too. Not quite as good but a lovely ambience just the same, many a pleasant hour spent people watching. So in summary we had a great time; thanks to you all. We would certainly recommend Casa Simon to others and wishing you all the very best for the future."
"A very lovely week spent in this most splendid of locations The house is perfect for a week away We rarely left the pool in temperatures of 34-38C degrees. Quite frazzled. The mountains are quite unbelievable; the pool shower one of the best views from any shower in the world! Thanks to Janet for a warm welcome and for the welcoming gifts on arrival We will certainly be back again in the future Jamie and Joe"
"What a beautiful place we used Casa Simon as a base whilst exploring the area in the hope of purchasing a property Visited a few and one or two possibilities Back to cold and wet Blighty to discuss with the adult children as to which one. Do you want to sell David and Jenny: if the price were right we would buy. Lovely setting; birds of prey circling each day and ghekos"
"We had an excellent week in the glorious sunshine Southern Spain. The pool and views were perfect! We can heartily recommend the fabulous beaches of Nerja and Playa del Maro…. and for the best ice cream in Spain the Italian Gelato shop in Competa. Thank you for a lovely week. (The Guppy Family July 2017)"
"Lovely villa, pool and views. Enjoying watching the House Martins and Swallows skimming the pool for either a drink or insects. Saw 2 Eagles who were calling soaring up above our heads, the end of 10 great days. Weather fabulous. Stunning sunset this evening. Lovely balmy evenings and enjoyed our evening meals outside with the stunning views. Kevin and Janet were amazing and made us feel very welcome. Enjoyed our meals out at El Pilon which we strongly recommend ( Cooke Family May 2017) "
"Thanks for a lovely week. The sun shone all the time, blue sky and that view again-wonderful! Took in a few walks whilst the Competa walking festival was on. It was good to be guided-views higher up even more breath taking. The back to the pool for a much needed dip. Be back soon! Thanks again."
"A super Stay-- So enjoyed the pool + the casa's views. Super tapas in Pacos Bar + Oscars Great Art Galleries + good value pieces. Loved the whole thing!"
"We had a fabulous fortnight! We feel so relaxed and don’t want to go home! ZX23 is the perfect size for the four of us and had everything we needed. The dinners and evenings at the villa were the best, accompanied by beautiful and ever changing sunsets. The views and mountains are incredible. We’d love to come back"
"Nothing can beat dinner at the villa, or the terrace, with the views and the sunset. Hope to be back its’ been so nice here"

Two (one double, one twin bedded).
Private swimming pool
8 m x 4 m, 2.5 m - 1.5 m deep.
In open countryside, 10 minutes from Cómpeta in La Axarquía region (Province of Málaga).
From 730 € to 1,190 € per week.
In a hidden corner of the Axarquía, off the road which winds up from the coast to the renowned village of Cómpeta, lies this neat white villa with its inviting, floodlit swimming pool.
The villa comfortably sleeps four and the sofa in the lounge also converts to a bed. It is fitted to a good standard.
From its high platform there are lovely views of the surrounding mountain ranges, with small Andalusian villages clinging to them, here and there. The Mediterranean Sea peeps through in the distance.
In this lofty position, the house stands amongst sloping olive groves. There are neighbouring properties dotted about on the hillsides around and about but none are immediate neighbours.
The design is clean and simple which makes it light and relaxing both inside and out.
A large sitting room at the front, with a well-appointed kitchen to one side, leads up a few steps to the bedrooms and bathroom at the back.
Ceilings are high and floors are laid with terracotta tiles. This, together with quality fittings and furniture, creates a harmonious ambience, a great place to rest and recharge overworked batteries.
From the living area the main door opens to a covered patio where a grapevine overhead is growing fast, the best spot to view the sun setting over the Mediterranean, or to enjoy an outdoor meal and the gentle mountain breezes.
A smaller but more protected and secluded terrace to one side is an ideal place to take the sun.
The pool area is well located, with the best views of all. It enjoys the sunshine from dawn until dusk. There is a garden of lemon, orange and olive trees and, around the pool, plants add colour to what is already a pretty sight.
Accessed by a track from the road which links Cómpeta and Sayalonga, the property has its own car port. The track is one kilometre long with a number of areas along the track that require slow, careful driving. We do not recommend the use of a car with a low clearance from the ground as this will make travelling to and from the house more difficult.
The closest restaurants and bars, as well as many other amenities and facilities, are in Cómpeta which these days has an international, cosmopolitan community. The ‘Jewel of the Axarquia’, the small town (population 4,000) has fabulous views of the Mediterranean from its position 700 metres above sea level in the Sierra Almijara.
It is known for its wine production and the festival, El Noche del Vino is a celebration of all things wine, as well as flamenco dancing, sevillana music and general fiesta exuberance fuelled by plenty of free-flowing vino. It is held on 15th August. There is a museum too, dedicated to wine, where you can buy local produce and handicrafts.
It is a charming, flower bedecked old town with its main centre, the Plaza Almijara, dominated by a magnificent sixteenth century church. This bustling square is one of the best places to enjoy a break as it offers several bars, restaurants and pavement cafes. From the main square ancient cobbled streets snake away to reveal hidden squares, boutiques and restaurants.
The spectacular Casa de la Mira Nature Reserve is close by, with beautiful walking and wildlife to enjoy. Walking in the Sierras Almijara and Tejeda is always superb.
The Torrox Coast offers the closest beaches. A little further along this coast, Torre del Mar has the best promenade on the Costa del Sol and the even more international Nerja is well worth a visit as well.
Closer to home there is plenty to do, too: walking, painting, mountain biking, bird watching - or just relaxing here under the wonderful Andalusian sun.
Weather permitting, the swimming pool will be open from April to mid October each year. If conditions are favourable, it may be opened outside of these dates, on request (although, because it's not heated, the normal swimming season is from late April to September, inclusive)
Rentals for this property run from Saturday to Saturday in July and August; at all other times they can start and finish on any day of the week
Prices are inclusive of a starter pack of essental groceries etc.
A weekly change of linen and towels is included for rentals of more than one week
