ZC103 Traditional townhouse in Gaucín

Málaga, Ronda Mountains, Gaucín

Gaucín shines amidst nature

In Gaucín, the 'Balcony of the Ronda mountains', this traditional townhouse has its own private balconies which overlook its pool, the village and the sea ...

The house within the town itself is a balcony to nature and greenery.

The house is perfectly integrated into the town, with walking access to shops, supermarkets, or cafés. Its owners consider it their home and make an effort to maintain it as the family house. The decoration and style are typical of the area, but the spaciousness, light, and views make the space very special and cozy.

Leaving your car will not be a problem as there is space to do so once you have managed to arrive. The exterior does not indicate the great surprise that awaits upon entering the property.

The pool in the garden will allow you to relax and enjoy the light and fresh mountain air, with the presence of the sea just a few kilometers away. The charming garden and its pool are the perfect treatment for relaxation and enjoying the intense blue sky of the area. You won’t need much to feel rejuvenated once you have breathed our air and bathed in both the water and the sun of Gaucín. The house and its garden offer you the necessary privacy to achieve your rest.

Being high up in the Serranía de Ronda, the views all round are nothing short of spectacular.

The drive to Gaucín is through the Serranía de Ronda, overlooking the Genil valley, adorned with green trees, cork oaks (encinas), almonds, and figs. As you climb higher inland, you’ll come across big, rocky outcrops and grazing goats, becoming a regular sight. The picture of the view below was taken from this house.

Gaucín truly lives up to its name as the “Balcon de la Serranía,” the balcony of the Ronda mountains, with fantastic views south towards the Mediterranean and Gibraltar.

The house offers views of the sea and the Eagle’s Castle, perched high above the village.

Gaucín itself is a beautiful mountain town. The locals take good care of their town, with houses adorned with pots of flowers and vines. Traditional drinking fountains can be found on many corners, and someone is always sweeping their doorstep. Bird identification plaques can be found on many street walls, serving as a decorative testament to the importance placed on the local wildlife population.

The ground floor is the one available for occupancy and features three bedrooms, two of them with double beds and the third with two single beds. The two bathrooms will be sufficient for the four or six people who typically come to the house.

The living room, with a fireplace and access to the terrace, will make you hesitate whether you’re indoors or outdoors, but its spaciousness will make you feel comfortable during your stay.

The kitchen is fully equipped and has all the utensils you may need. It has a table for trying out the delicious local specialties that you dare to cook… and you can also showcase your cooking skills on the terrace’s barbecue.

The terrace

The terrace of this house is south facing and whatever you are doing, relaxing or dining, it will have a true Mediterranean feel.

One of the most pleasant spaces in the house where you can relax and enjoy the views. It has a table with chairs for breakfast or dinner, allowing you to savor the tranquility of Gaucín while watching and listening to the birds at dawn, a perfect moment of peace in this house.

Eat out and walk home

'This was our second visit to Gaucin, first time in this property. When we return we will look no further. Great house, central location & lovely host'

Gaucín certainly has more than its fair share of good restaurants, bars and cafes. Staying at a house so conveniently placed means that you can eat out everyday without having to drive. For things to do, you can walk to the ruined castle, visit the fifteenth century church of San Sebastián, take in the colour of the local markets and explore the surrounding countryside.

In the surroundings, you can enjoy:
• Hiking trails
• Cycling routes
• Gastronomic routes
• Wine tastings .

The house is also an ideal base for day trips. The Mediterranean coast is only half an hour’s drive away, while the Atlantic beaches with their white sand and famous wind surfing mecca of Tarifa, is one and a half hour’s drive. For the more cosmopolitan face of Andalucía, visit Ronda, Jerez, Cádiz and Sevilla.

With a glass of wine in hand and the vistas around you, the conversation will be about what a perfect day you’ve had and the promise of another one tomorrow. One visitor wrote:
