Comfortable and pretty, bright and cheerful, this spacious villa is located just outside one of the best loved villages in Andalucía ...
Views are superb
The magnificent Crestellina Ridge rises up across the horizon - a huge panorama of mountain majesty which spreads out in front of your eyes.
Set in its own acre of olive and almond groves with spectacular, sweeping views across the mountains, this spacious, sunny holiday villa is located just outside Gaucín, one of the best loved white villages in Andalucía.
The villa comfortably sleeps four (there is a small sofabed which could, at a squeeze, accommodate one more) and is fitted to a good standard.
There are other properties dotted about on the surrounding hillsides but no near neighbours, making this is a fabulous location which combines the best of Andalucia’s rural magnificence with easy access to one of the classic “pueblos blancos”.
Once a haven for brandy and tobacco smugglers who travelled through the surrounding hills, Gaucín remains a delightful tangle of narrow, twisting streets and still retains its old-world charm.
Idyllic
"As peaceful a spot as it's possible to find, there are barely any houses to be seen - just sweeping tree-covered valleys and mountains. Totally relaxing".
Add a sophisticated touch here and there (including some excellent little restaurants), close proximity to some of Andalucía’s best attractions and enduringly spectacular views across to Gibraltar and the Rif mountains of North Africa, and you have one of the great Spanish rural holiday destinations.
The villa won’t disappoint you, either. Built on a terraced hillside, there are delights on each of its different levels.
The large living room is casually comfortable, cheerfully furnished with a sofa and armchair and corner bench seating. Drapes, cushions and rugs and bright splashes of colour as do some of the owners own paintings which hang on the walls. It’s well equipped too, with satellite TV, VCR, DVD, CD and radio, plus a selection of tapes, games and videos. A glass-fronted wood-burning stove makes it cosy on winter evenings.
A fabulous week
"We agree with all the rave reviews - the quality of bed linen and the well equipped kitchen helps this stand out from so many other villas".
Double wooden doors open to the railed terrace outside and to the huge panorama of magnificent, mountain majesty which spreads out in front of your eyes.
An archway divides the living area from the kitchen / dining area which is equally attractive and spacious. It’s smart and fully equipped with everything you will need for comfortable, creative dining.
There is also a utility room on this floor which houses the washing machine, dryer and other household equipment.
At the other end of the living room, a door opens to the ground floor double bedroom (there is also a twin bedroom), another light and attractive space, the colourful details contrasting nicely with the white room scheme. It’s en-suite bathroom has a walk-in shower.
Stairs lead up to the master bedroom with en-suite shower room. French doors open on to the upper terrace area and the fabulous southerly views. On this level there is also a separate full bathroom.
Time for a dip
"The pool area is great for sun bathing and has sun from dawn until dusk. It's a good size and offers spectacular views of the mountains around Gaucin".
The main outdoor space is on the ground floor and on the terraces immediately below the house.
The shaded, open walkway runs along the entire length of the property, extending out to a very comfortable terrace area immediately outside (and also accessed from) the kitchen / dining area. Views are far, wide and very handsome!
From here steps take you down to the “Cool Room”, a clever use of the space immeadiately below the dining terrace, a lovely shaded sitting area with night lighting. Casually furnished with wicker chairs and bench seating it has its own special ambience.
A very relaxing spot, it’s perfect to hide away with a good book and a bottle of wine, a small fridge on hand to keep your refreshments cool.
A fantastic holiday
"The villa was superb, with excellent facilities and an unbelieveable location. Ideal for a quiet relaxing break, and a perfect location for exploring Andalucia".
Just below, another terrace down, is the place to improve your tan, stretched out on one of the sunloungers alongside the delightful, kidney-shaped swimming pool. It’s a wonderful spot, peaceful, secluded and the views are superb. At one end a simple cane and beamed structure provides welcome shade. All around, planted garden areas add to the rural idyll.
A pretty walkway through the olive groves will take you to a tranquil viewing point. But it’s not just from here that you will enjoy the view: wherever you are on this property, the vista is always stunning.
The vast, craggy outcrop of the Crestellina Ridge rises up on one side of the horizon; in the other direction, the ruins of Gaucín’s Moorish castle, Castillo del Aguila (Eagle’s Castle) stand proud on their rocky promontory at the summit of Hacho Mountain. Between them lies the deep valley of the Rio Genal on its final lap down to the Mediterranean Sea.
A stunning location
"We will never forget waking up on our first morning to THAT view. We loved Gaucín, we loved it all".
Dips in the pool, a bit of sunbathing and countryside contemplation, an afternoon nap in the Cool Room… once here you will take some shifting …
You may be tempted by the golden beaches of the Costa del Sol, or by some of the best golf courses in Spain, both within half an hour from Gaucín. A short drive through fantastic countryside in the opposite direction will take you to Ronda. Day trips to Córdoba, Cádiz, Sevilla, Granada and Tangiers are all possible from here.
Maybe just an early evening stroll up to the village, as pretty as a postcard. Gaucín’s narrow winding streets and hidden alleyways offer up both spectacular views and an excellent selection of restaurants and tapas bars. And the good news is that it’s all downhill on the way home!
But … once here you will take some shifting. Dips in the pool, a bit of sunbathing and countryside contemplation, an afternoon nap in the Cool Room …
As one client put it, “I just wanted to let you know what a truly fantastic time we had. All plans to visit other places vanished when we arrived at this beautiful villa in such a wonderful place – what a stunning location! It had everything. We could hardly bear to leave it, and will never forget waking up on our first morning to THAT view. We loved Gaucín, we loved it all. Thank you so much”.

Just wanted to let you all know how wonderful our holiday was in Gaucin this year - staying again at ZC61, where we were 5 years ago, and it is just as heavenly, and with a new kitchen and BBQ too! But even without that, it is still a fab villa with the most stunning views, of anywhere we've ever been. Back in London now, but the memory of that amazing landscape, the sun rising, and the castle lit up at night at the top of the village, will always be with us. Many thanks Rustic Blue for everything. I hope we'll be back one day."
