ZC96 Villa of your dreams in Ronda

Málaga, Ronda Mountains, Ronda

Relax in the villa of your dreams

So close to Ronda, 'the city of dreams', yet surrounded by countryside, this villa is sure to delight. With its home cinema, lake-style swimming pool and luxurious rooms, you won't want to leave ...

This villa is of superb quality through and through. For all its grandeur, it is also full of warmth and heart.

holiday_villa_andalucia_spain_zc96_4

This beautiful villa is only a ten-minute drive from Ronda’s municipal sports hall (polideportivo) which is off a main Ronda roundabout, and is a very easy landmark to find. The drive to the house itself is through farmland, initially along a tarmacked track for three kilometres  and then a dirt road for a further two kilometres. The road is easy to negotiate with a normal hire car, there are potholes in a few places.

The track turns towards a hacienda-style mansion, the only house for miles around. Drive through the entrance arch  and the iron gates will be standing open onto an impressive cobbled courtyard. Although built in 2006, the feel of this villa is one of a traditional Spanish country house, with its terracotta pan-tiled roof, white walls, wrought ironwork  and antique doors, the welcome is classic Andaluz.

Fine dining

Built to the highest standards, no expense has been spared for decor, design and comfort.

holiday_villa_andalucia_spain_zc96_5

Once inside, you come to the entrance hall with its encaustic coloured floor tiles and wooden stair case rising up in front of you. The atmosphere of style and opulence begins here and continues on throughout the house. Underfloor heating and air conditioning are in every room.

Directly on the left from the entrance hall, is the indoor dining patio. The dining table seats eight. The window ceiling of the dining room is clear glass and is constantly changing, according to the sky. The blue of the walls form part of the sky on a sunny day, and clouds are entertaining as they scud past above you. Windows from the upstairs rooms look down into the patio and tiles in blue and cream, like the entrance hall, decorate the floor. It really is a beautiful place to dine.

Four double bedrooms are on the ground floor, decorated with Indian carvings and colourful textiles.

The first ground floor bedroom has a double four-poster bed with a wardrobe and views to the internal dining room and lawn outside. Each bedroom has its own controls for temperature and music. It’s not en suite but shares the  bathroom next door with the second double bedroom (also with a four-poster). The shared bathroom has a full bath tub with mixer shower taps, wc, bidet, basin and a large mirror which reflects the gleaming white porcelain of the bathroom suite.

The third bedroom is another double with a four-poster bed and antique mirrors on the wall. Its window view is to the horse arena and countryside. Bedroom four is similarly decorated to the other three although its bed is not a four-poster. All these bedrooms have an eastern style.

Bedrooms three and four also share a bathroom which is situated in between them and identical to the bathroom for bedrooms one and two.

A convenient cloakroom is close by with a hand basin, wc and round and oval mirrors.

The living room is to the right of the entrance hall. It’s sunny and bright and has views to the pool and countryside beyond. A touch screen panel here controls lights for this salon and the kitchen (the salon leads directly into the kitchen by carved sliding doors). Cowhide armchairs, and a leather L-shaped sofa are arranged facing an open fireplace. Music for the living room, indeed for all around the house, can be activated by iPhone for music of your choice. Wifi internet is provided.

A pool within a pool

The swimming pool is right in front of the veranda, it's so big it could almost be a small lake. The pool comes with its own jacuzzi!

holiday_villa_andalucia_spain_zc96_3

The swimming pool in this house is an amazing 25 x 16m. It has a little bridge to the centre of the pool which is in fact a jacuzzi. The jacuzzi can be heated, so you can bathe outside in bubbling, hot water, even in winter.

Other facilities at hand are a poolside shower and a wood-burning oven for the best type of pizzas. As in the main house, music on the terrace can be programmed through an iPhone.

A gazebo is set a little further down from the pool, away from the house. It’s a quiet place just to chill and watch the fantastic sunsets over the mountains in the distance. The landscape in which this villa is set is nothing short of breathtaking, both for its beauty and peacefulness.

Take five

Rest and relax in the comfortable snug. Warm and cosy, it's a private space for reading, snoozing or watching TV.

holiday_villa_andalucia_spain_zc96_8

Another room leading off the internal dining patio is a very welcoming and cosy TV room. With its antique, carved doors, wood panelling and large picture window to the horse ground, it’s a lovely room to relax in. The den has two two-seater sofas, an open fireplace, and is ranged with bookcases. The large flatscreen TV is set into the wall above the fireplace, forming part of the chimney breast. It’s a wonderful place to hide away and snuggle down with your books, newspapers and laptop.

Just outside this den, is the training ground and stable for ‘Noque’ the horse. Noque is well trained and friendly and is available for guests to ride. He is looked after by Juan the caretaker who is the husband of the housekeeper, the delightful Ana. Ana is available to prepare breakfasts if required and provides assistance for any outside caterers.

Everything is of the finest quality

The kitchen has everything you could want and more. Catering is available on site if you'd like to be cooked for, for one day, two days or every day.

The semi-professional kitchen which leads directly from the living room is impressive, but homely too. The country style kitchen with pitched ceiling and exposed beams, has an island food preparation area with wooden work surfaces, white units and seven bar stools for taking breakfast. Facilities include an American style fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, electric oven and induction hob set in a granite worktop. Cooking pans, glasses, cutlery and crockery come in abundance.

The laundry room is next to the large garage. The washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing facilities are here, as is another fridge/freezer plus a cot and high chair if they are needed.

From the kitchen there is direct access to an outside dining terrace with a circular table for eight. This covered veranda also has carved wooden sofas, made comfy with cushions, for lounging and drinking in the view of the pool and the mountains.

The journey to the villa is through picturesque green fields and woodlands with the Serrania Ronda rising up in the distance. In places, the track follows a pretty little river, there are small birds and birds of prey to be seen, this area is rich in wildlife. As you approach the villa, the surrounding fields turn into olive groves and encinas (Spanish oak) with marvellous views stretching out 360 degrees and as far as the eye can see.

A cute and cosy casita

This casita is so sweet. It's ideal for couples who'd like a little privacy, but there's space to entertain family and friends too.

holiday_villa_andalucia_spain_zc96_10

A further bedroom is available in a separate two-storey casita, close to the main house. This cottage has a Swiss chalet feel, with its exposed ceiling beams and wooden kitchen decor. The first floor has a double bedded room with dressing table and picture window giving views to the beautiful countryside. The en suite bathroom has a large walk-in shower, basin and wc.

Below the bedroom is a kitchenette with restaurant-style seating in banquettes, arranged around four little tables. The idea is for groups of friends, staying in the main house, to be able to eat together with their friends sleeping in this little chalet. The kitchenette comes with a music system, fridge, 2-ring induction hob as well as cutlery and crockery (including fondue sets for an authentic Alpine evening).

At the movies ... at home

The rooms upstairs comprise two bedrooms, a home cinema and sauna. The rooms on this floor are softly carpeted for comfort, quiet and grateful bare feet.

Back to the main house … the double bedroom suites (each with superior en suite facilities) are on the first floor, along with a home cinema and sauna.

The first bedroom suite has a double bed, built-in wardrobes and two Juliet balconies, one with views to the lawned garden,  the other with views to the horse arena. The bathroom has a free-standing roll-top bath with shower mixer taps, twin basins, wc and bidet. The chandelier light fittings add a touch of opulence as you soak away your cares.

The second double bedroom suite has extra space, large enough to accommodate a single bed, if necessary, perhaps for a child. In this space, a small tripod-mounted telescope is provided for guests to do a bit of star-gazing. The double bed has a carved headrest, built-in wardrobes and views to the entrance courtyard and horse ground. The bathroom has a state of the art full body massage shower, wc, bidet and basin.

The cinema has been designed for enhanced film enjoyment that’s why it’s decorated in dark, navy blue. It also has heavy curtains with carpeted floor and walls for soundproofing against the Dolby-digital surround sound system. A plushy, squashy L-shaped sofa is perfect for watching the movies of your choice. At the push of a button, the cinema screen comes down and then it’s lights (off), camera, action!

Despite being out in the countryside, although difficult to believe, Ronda town centre is only a ten minute drive away. A trip to Ronda sometime during your holiday is a real must. With its rich fields, ancient past and spectacular vantage point, it’s easy to see why Ronda has been a magnet for traders, poets and warring armies. Spend a day sightseeing here and you won’t be disappointed.

For a different day out, the beaches of the Costa del Sol are an hour away and the natural beauty of the Grazalema national park is on your doorstep.

ONE OF THE BEST I have been visiting this resort last week, the weather was warm, so we could enjoy swiming pool. The place is stunning surrounded by mountains. City is close enough to visit for shopping, but far enough to enjoy privacy or have a little party. ManVydas V

Most beautiful mountain location, ten minutes from Ronda We fell immediately in love with this place, difficult to find but with the foto description they sent us, it was a lot easier. Completely away from the crowded tourist spots it is a place to relax and enjoy the sunset above Ronda during dinner. Luis, the owner, makes you feel comfortable as soon as you arrive. With only six rooms you can use the villa as if it is your own. They are just new, so it’s still a good time to go, I guess booking will be more difficult when popularity grows. Great pool too! Organic food, home made from local farmers. Miekepl.

Unforeseen Delight My husband and I ended up at the Resort after making an unexpectedly extended trip to Ronda on our honeymoon. It was a highlight of our trip! Luis was charming, personable and so attentive. Anna’s cuisine was spectacular. We loved our stay and could not believe our luck to find this romantic, charming accommodation. Thank you for making our once in a lifetime trip a t amazing memory.

Secluded luxury in the Ronda countryside We have just returned from a week at the resort – a party of 11 family and friends. It has been one of the best properties we have ever rented (this is number 7). The location is spectacular, 15 mins from Ronda, in the middle of stunning countryside. It is very remote, and the roads into Ronda are small and winding, but to me the seclusion was part of the attraction of this particular property. The villa itself is beautiful – well decorated and maintained, very comfortable living areas, very well equipped kitchens and bathrooms, comfortable beds, a good audio system to stream music around the house, and plenty of spaces such as the library to relax out of the heat in peace and quiet. The view from the terrace from sunrise to sunset towards Ronda over the olive groves and vineyards is just breathtaking. Many rental properties never manage somehow to feel anything like home – this one most definitely did. It is not only somewhere I would recommend to groups who wish to relax in comfort in a beautiful property, but somewhere that I very much hope to return to again in the future. Kate S
