There are many companies offering car hire rental in Spain. It goes without saying that some are better than others . . . Here are our current recommendations:

AVIS

Perhaps not the cheapest but Avis provides a wide range of vehicles and with more than 200 rental locations in Spain, you are pretty much assured that an Avis office will be nearby on your arrival.

Avis also provide a full range of extras such as additional insurance, additional drivers, child seats, GPS and winter products.

You can click on the link below to check availability and prices and book via Rustic Blue or visit Avis directly to book with them if you prefer.

Malaga Car Hire

For flights into Málaga, an alternative for those on a budget is Malaga Car Hire, a British company of more than 25 years standing, who specialise in low price car rentals servicing this area of Spain. As they do only operate from Málaga, if you are travelling to other airports, you will need to seek out another operator. Their prices are very competitive, their terms are customer-friendly and, from what we have heard, the service works well.

Via your airline

We also recommend that you take a look at the car hire services offered by the airline you have booked flights with. These days they all have tie-ups with one of the major car hire companies and should be able to offer favourable deals.

Local price variations

Finally, just a tip for American clients: our research shows that it’s invariably cheaper to book with your local, US supplier. For example, booking a car – in Spain – from Avis in the US is much cheaper than booking with Avis in Spain. Food for thought . . .
